Arrival of Eleanor of Austria to France

Subject: Arrival of Eleanor of Austria to France Tue Mar 31, 2020 10:00 am

I had travelled from where I was in Bavaria and had now arrived in France where I was to marry the French King Francois I. As my carriage approached I stepped out and was accompanied by my sister Isabella of Austria who had come for the coronation. I waited to be greeted by the French court.

The French Court had been informed of the arrival of the princess Eleanor from Spain and as my father got ready to meet her I went down to the courtyard where her royal highness had just arrived and I approached and bowed.

"Welcome Princess Eleanor to France my father has sent me to greet you as he readies himself for your arrival. I am Prince Henri of France and the Dauphin and I trust that your journey was a safe and not challenging one here? I asked as she approached.

I stepped out of the carriage with my sister and I looked at the fine prince who had come to meet me.

"My journey here was not challenging thank you your highness and I am please to meet you and I hope I do not disappoint your father my lord? This lady here next to me is my sister Isabella of Austria and she will be staying a while. How long will it be before i meet the King my lord?

I compose myself before replying to the princess.

"I can assure you now your highness that my father will not be dissappointed when he sees you for your are a great beauty and please forgive I do not mean to offend you if this does I am just complimenting you. The King is ready to receive you soon your Highness as he is just speaking with some ambassadors please allow me to show you and your ladies into the palace and to your chambers." I say to her as i nodded towards the princess's sister.

Isabelle heard about Princess Eleanor arrival at court and she went to welcome her. She noticed that Prince Henri was already there. She curtsied towards him

Altesse..

So she looked at Eleanor and smiled kindly at her. She curtsied deeply

Eleanor noticed another lady approach and greeted her curtsy with a smile.

"I thank you Isabelle I would like to accept your offer kindly too. I would like to see my chambers lady Isabelle and do you know when I will meet with his Grace? I say as my lady gather my bags and prepare to enter the palace.

Of course, Your Highness. I will accompany you gladly until your chambers. So you can have rest. You will meet the King very soon. There will be a feast in your honour this evening..

She said taking some Princess's lugguages

"Thank you Duchess you are very kind I will follow you to the chambers you have prepared for me and tonight at the feast is that where I shall meet my husband to be? Please also show my sister Isabella to her chambers too. Please tell me what is the French court like?

Isabelle smiled and nodded

Yes, Your Highness. You will meet the King this evening. You'll find everything you need in your chambers. Even new gowns and jewels, King's gift for you. Your sister will be welcome with the same honours and her chamber is ready as well. French court is very nice and I hope you will feel as at home..

I looked at Isabelle.

"Thank you Duchess I will wear one tonight and some of the new jewels too. Do tell me where do I find the Hall for the feast as this is all new to myself and I hope that I will like it here. Tell me will the kings children be attending also? I would like my sister seated next to me at the feast tonight my lady and I thank you for your kindness you have shown me.

The banquet in your honour there will be at Salle des fêtes
here at Palace, Your Highness. And of course Prince Henri and Princess Madeline there will be there as well. king's daughter can't wait to meet you, Your Highness..

"Madeline is the king's daughter? I look forward to meeting her too and his majesty of course. Please do send word to me my lady as to when the banquet will begin so I can be ready to meet them all and I hope I am welcomed to France by all too.

Eleanor nodded her head towards Isabelle and she followed her towards the entrance to get herself ready for the upcoming banquet.
