After Fisher's poisoning, John was immediately arrested and brought to the Tower. He had been tortured and questioned by Cromwell all day, but he never talked. He refused to admit that Boleyn gave him the poison, because he feared for his family. Cromwell was still asking questions when Boleyn entered in his cell. But he hardly noticed that. He was staring around room with empty eyes

He knew the cook wouldn't talk, but he also knew either way this man's life would end. A pity really. He was of such use to Boleyn. But now he was paying the price for it.

He paced the rooms, hating the smell of the dank and musty place. He hadn't yet had a bath and he was running on three hours of sleep. The last place he wanted to be was here. Russes's chamberpot sat nearby and vile excrement assaulted Cromwell's senses. Attempting to muster himself quite well, he questioned the man poisoned Fisher and the other priests.

Who gave you the poison? After being a good servant to the bishop you one day take it into mind to murder him and his associates? This just doesn't make sense. So, you worked under duress. Who gave the poison to you, to help kill off Fisher??

John was hardly listening Cromwell's words. He was just thinking about his family's future. He didn't care about himself anymore. But he had to try to protect his family. Especially now that his life was going to end in the worse possible way. He raised slowly his eyes towards Cromwell

My Lord...I have three daughters..

Cromwell gave a sharp little laugh that sent chills through Roose's bones.

That is nothing to me.

He thought of his own daughter and how they were cruelly taken from him.

John took a deep breath, not even noticing that the Secretary Cromwell was looking at him with a kidding expression on his face

John glanced at Boleyn for a moment. He noticed his cold eyes and felt a shiver along his back. He shook slowly his head turning to Secretary Cromwell again

No, my Lord. I already had a reward. The bill was paid..

Then you will die for your stupidity......

he whispered threateningly, thus leaving the rancid cell.
