Hafsa made her way to her chamber even though it had been a very long time since she had been here. Everything was kept clean and fresh - no signs of the past here -

With hunkarim right behind her Hafsa took a sip of water.

Suleyman escorted his sister personally until her chamber. After the eunuchs closed the door behind them, he looked at her and smiled

Everything is like when you left, Hafsa. Even if something changed at Palace. Our sister Hatice is going to marry soon with Ibrahim Pasa. And she is ho happy having you here for this special event..

He came closer and took her face among his hands. He smiled. Among his sisters, Hafsa was the most sensitive and she could understand everything even without words

I feel everything is changing, Hunkarim. I've always been so different from you all. Now things are changing and our land is full of foreign ambassadors. I feel that I would be most safest back here with my family.

Hafsa was taken back by hearing her brothers words. She had not imagined Hatice to marry below her rank. Any man who married a Sultana would be raised in his rank by our brother. Only time would tell if this would cause strain under the friendships.

How magnificent a wedding at the palace! You must be as proud like a father to witness this special union.

Suleyman smiled taking her hands in his

Indeed I am, Hafsa. I decided to allow her to marry for love. But she missed you very much. Now come, sit with me. I'm planning an alliance with the King of France..

He sat on the sofa

You know, we need this against Charles V. But tell me about you, sister. How is your husband?

Hafsa absorbed all of this information knowing that Charles V and his other siblings - who acted on his words- Had tried many times to run us out of Turkey. But Süleyman was a great leader a warrior even. He fought hard back against him and his intrusive siblings and won many wars. To keep our country safe and the culture of Turkey- the Ottomans alove and safe.

I think that it os very important to have this alliance with France. You should invite the king and queen to our land so they can see what a wonderful nation we truly have. Is their a particular reason why Charles V keeps wanting to claim our homeland for his own.

Unlike the rest of her siblings Hafsa had a very keen interest in politics. She liked to understand and study the reasons why men went to war. And why it was that people attacked things they did not understand.

Suleyman gestured her to sit next to him and smiled

Very well..Hafsa. I like your thoughts about politics. You would have been a good Vizier, if you were a man. Neverthless, you didn't answer my question about your husband, sister. Is there something wrong?

He asked worriedly

Suleyman that I do not know. How shameful to not know where one's husband is. It is like he disappeared without a trace.

Hafsa felt shameful but what else could she do! Coming from a great dynasty she had to put her family first.

Suleyman sat at her side and took a deep breath. He nodded

I understand your concern, sister. But you don't have to worry. Your husband is safe. I sent Çoban in France to discuss an alliance with King Francis. Sorry for didn't tell you..but I was busy with politic's matter, and you were far from Palace. I should have sent you a letter..

He added, smiling in order to reassure her. He wanted to see all his sisters happy with their husbands, even if some of them were not good as he hoped. But he trusted deeply in Çoban Mustafa, he was a good man
