| It has been a long while since I have had any visitors, and I wonder if I am even allowed that. I sit by the window, the lemon-colored sunlight filtering through the drapes and let my mind wander to no place in particular. | |

| Suleyman heard that Princess of Castille, Isabella Fortuna, was finally arrived in Ottoman Empire. She was her prisoner. He won her after a battle against infidels in Spain. He also knew she was catholic. Neverthless, he decided to keep her not into a cell, but into an house next to Palace, respecting her rank. Also, he was told that Isabella can't speak turkish, and one of her ladies was always with her to translate everything in her language. A servant announced him and he entered in the roomYour Highness, Sultan Suleyman is here...Suleyman walked inside and smiledPrincess Isabella...welcome in Turkey...He knew she hated him, but he showed her a satisfied smileOOC: Let's continue on 22 April [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| Isabella's eyes blazed fire as her captor walked in so calmly and, of all things, welcomed her!!. She tried to hold back a sneer. Knowing she was in a Moorish country now, she slowly picked up a jewel studded crucifix upon her table and kissed it as she made eye contact with the sultan.
"Tell him I am glad to be here, by the grace and mercy of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!" she commanded her interpreter. The person looked shocked but quickly translated, blushing. Isabella stood there smiling.

| Suleyman listened carefully at her translator. Once the lady finished to talk, an amused smile appeard on his face. He knew she was christian. Since the Pope was threating him, he felt proud having one of his subjects as his prisoner. He looked at the cross. Then turned his eyes to her
Hoşgeldiniz Prenses. I'm glad you feel happy of being here. I assure you that you'll be treated with respect, and you'll feel as your own home. And very soon, you'll learn our language and our manners. Allah will be with you...
Her lady started to translate his words, while he stared at her beautiful face

| She waited patiently as the sultan spoke then the translator explained what was said. Allah will be with you! She felt so insulted to hear this!
"Tell my prison guard", she said, referring to the sultan, "that I intend not to stay here so long to learn the manners nor the language of these godless people! I shall have a rescuer, be assured of that!" She folded her arms over her chest and gave Suleyman a bold stare as he looked at her.

| After translation, Suleyman smiled, instead of getting angry as she probably expected. He turned his eyes to her
Princess Isabella...maybe you still don't know who are you talking with. I'm the Sultan of this immense Empire. I could destroy your country, and infidels in Vatican...if only I wanted to. I remind you that you're my prisoner. But nothing bad will happen to you...if you'll accept my rules. We could be friends, Isabella...
He said calmily, without removing his eyes from her while her lady started to translate

| Isabella sneered as he called the men of the Vatican "infidels" and swore he possessed the power to crush her own beloved country. Friends! He deigned to ask her friendship! She looked at him for a long while, trying not to let her fear nor her anger show.
"Why do you keep me here? If you could destroy any nation, as you say, then why is Spain important? What measure of importance do I carry?" She asked this with sincere questioning, her hand upon her heart.

| Suleyman looked deeply at her after translation. A woman...who dared talk with him about politic! He rolled his eyes and took a deep breath
Princess Isabella...Emperor Charles V and I have many things to discuss. I know...you're related with Queen of England, Katherine of Aragon. And...her infidel husband, Henry Tudor, is trying to divorce from her. They both are catholic countries. Since Henry is breaking with Pope, I don't think he'll care about a catholic hostage. But your brother Charles...will kneel to my power, if he wants you in Spain again...
He glanced at her translator and grinned
I told you too much, Isabella. I don't talk about such things with women, usually. And very soon...there will be a new lady in my harem...

| Isabella's heart breaks as she thinks of her dear brother Charles. Would he really kneel to the Sultan's power? Forsake all belief and do anything, even shame himself, to have her set free and back in Spain? And her beloved Aunt Katherine.. how saddenned and angered she'd been to hear of Henry's trying to divorce her!
Her eyes narrowed as she heard mention of another lady being added to the Harem. "I hope the woman you choose for your sinful deeds is of an easygoing temper. For if you are speaking of myself, I swear I will not give in easy!"

| Suleyman looked at Isabella and showed her a proud smile. Her words never irritated him. On the contrary, he was almost amused by her brave temper
Princess Isabella...I assure you, that once entered in my harem...and in my bed, you won't get off from it anymore. I'll dominate your temper, and you'll be obedient and sweet. So...why do you want to challange me, Isabella? Anyone will hurt you here. I give you my word...
He said with serious tone. Then he looked at her translator, waiting for her reaction

| Though his threat should have struck fear in her, she already knew she was outnumbered and that her death would be a small thing to accomplish by any of the guards. And though his talk of her entering his harem and being his slave in bed should have shocked and angered her, she could not deny a twinge of desire sparked within her. A blush betrayed her, and she tried to look indignant.
"Then i must warn you, 'I am wild for to hold, though I seem tame..'"
She crossed her arms and waited as the translator spoke for her.

| Suleyman noticed her blushing and smiled
I'm sure you'll enjoy your time here. Hope this house likes you. I want to give you your...indipendence, for now. I know that in your country women are used to be more...free. But this will change. Since you're near the Palace, I will visit you often...
He explained, looking at her shocked face. Her lady started to translate

| I stand with my hands on my hips. My independence shall be "given" to me!
"I daresay you will not find me in a less irate manner, Sultan... Visit if you like, but do prepared to fight another war of words. I shall give in not at all."
I spin around, facing my back to him.

| Suleyman smiled again after he heard tramslation. He looked proudly at her
Don't be so hostile, Princess. Don't ruin our...newborn friendship. I'll order that you must be very well treated, because of your rank. In the meanwhile, try to relax. We'll see each other very soon again, Isabella...
He smiled again, careless of her reaction. Then turned towards door and left her room, followed by his guards

| Suleyman entered and Isabella was caught off guard. She tried to compose herself as a princess should, and bowed to him as befitting both their ranks.
"I am glad you are here my lord." As soon as she spoke these words she wondered why she has said them. Perhaps because he was kind to her after her fall. But she had to sit down again because the pain was still present.

| Isabella was taken aback by the fact that she would have to learn the language of these people. She felt her blood rise into her cheeks.
"Yes, I see that would be best," she said as she tried not to feel angry. "I am always one for learning new things."
But in her mind, she felt this was the first step in becoming one of them. If she had not her translator with her, there would be no one else here on her side.

| Suleyman noticed her disappointment and smiled
Think about advantages of learning our language, Isabella. We could finally talking alone, without anyone around us to translate...
He added with a grin on his face

| She had been looking at the floor, and her dark eyes flew up to meet his as he said they could be alone if they spoke the same language, no translators would be needed.
"Alone?" she repeated as she forced a laugh. "Why ever would you wish that?"
