A servant had told Madeline that lady in waiting Charlotte had come back to Versailles. They were of the same age and Madeline didn't see many people due to her health since being born. Immediately she sent a note asking for Charlotte to meet her in parts of the palace that wasn't crowded with courtiers.

Charlotte immediately left her chambers when the note from the princess arrived. She felt honored that her presence was requested and believed it would be good to spend time with someone of the same age. When she neared the fountain, Princess Madeline was not hard to spot and she quickly curtsied once she was in front of her. Your Highness, I received your note.

Charlotte it's so great to see you again, I am glad you are here. Madeline was still a little bit weak from when the physicians applied leeches. As Madeline was born so poorly she often felt like a burden to her family. One arranged marriage given to the De Guise family as Madeline would not of survived the journey. I was thrilled to hear of your return. No one else around here are the same age as me and only a rare few are allowed to see me.

I am glad to be here, Your Highness. I have not heard much about you, I was worried. Charlotte could not help but be concerned, if she was being honest the Princess did not seem to be in good health. My father fell ill and I needed to go to him, the Queen was gracious enough to give me my leave. Though I was sad to leave court, it was necessary. I am too thrilled to be back, I did not realize how much I missed court life until I was back.
