Ludlow Castle,
2nd August 1533.

Your Majesty,

I hope his grace is in good health and that his grace should know that I wouldn't intrude on his future happiness unless I had good reason to do so.

I understand that hearing from me would cause his highness such distress as I myself come from a time when his majesty wasn't very happy. I apologise wholeheartedly for any pain my reaching out to you would cause. A situation has arisen that his Majesty should know about. A relative came to Ludlow Castle and has claimed that there are ways of sneaking me out without you ever noticing. Of course I paid no heed to the words they spoke as I would never wish to upset his majesty.
They spoke of my freedom as if they were not scared of the repercussions of their actions and how greatly offended his majesty would be. I consider them to be a traitor to the crown. They call themselves Grace De Velville.

Your most loving obedient daughter,

Mary Tudor

My dearest daughter,

your letter caused me a great joy. I'm very surprised but ver happy hearing from you. I hope you're in good health too. In spite of what's happened with your mother, you're and you'll be my loving daughter.
I'm sorry you felt hurted. But this has nothing to do with you.
About Lady De Velville, I'll talk to her soon. No one can decide anything without my permission.
Better for you to stay at Ludlow. It's for your safety.

With love

Henry VIII of England

Your father
