I had finally arrived. My room was small and cold however it was perfect for me. The furniture was better than mine at home and I noticed the window peered onto the Thames. It would be pretty when I had feathered it with my own things. I was glad of the location of my room. It was on the ground floor of the castle, and from what I could tell only a short walk to the gardens. I would try be glad here.

I only had one cart for my things. I had more books than I had gowns. One blue for leisure, one white for the evenings and one pale grey for work. They would do for now and when I began earning as a governess I may commission a new gown.

After unpacking my things, I put some wild flowers; I had picked from the fields near by, on my journey here, in a ceramic painted vase.
