I gulp hard and I smile as best as I can as I bow my head slightly to him in acknowledgement, If that is what Votre Majeste wishes to do then who am I to stop you from doing so? Inside I feel myself breaking. I will never leave the love of my life!

"Mon cher Baronne, I do this not for me, but for you... 'tis one of the duties I have as votre roi that gives me the greatest personal satisfaction". I cannot understand her perceptible reticence at my suggestion. "I personally know of several Ducs and Marquises, très handsom!, who would make you a very happy girl!" I reach out and take her hand. "I wish you to know that although consumed with affaires de l'État, I am always willing to help my loyal subjects, oui?"

I smile, I understand Your Majesty. Please forgive my behavior towards the matter.. I need t show interest in his quest until the perfect moment to reveal my marriage. I reach down and smooth out my dress, You are most fine and noble to look out for your nobles, even us lesser ones.

"Très bien... then it is decided, I shall commence immediately making inquiries on your behalf to prospective suitors and inform you the moment I have some good news, mon cher Baronne".

I smile at her and pat her hand, when I suddenly notice her complexion turning pallid. "Are you feeling well, Baronne?... you look a bit pale?".

I rest my hand gently upon his, silently reassuring him that I am feeling quite well but it seems to not be working.  I look to him with big eyes and a beautiful smile, Your Majesty, I assure you that I am fine.  Just a bit tired still from my travels to England.. Then I think, Oh silly me.  I must pay homage to you.. Anything to take his mind off the idea of marriage.

La Baronne is truly a lovely girl, from a noble family as well... Verily it concerns me to see her having to bear the duties of noblesse française alone... Just then it occurs to me!...

"Mon cher Baronne " I say merrily "It may not have crossed your mind, but I have sent to all lords et les ladies of court an invitation to a bal masqué to be held on the morrow's eve... I believe 'twould cheer you up to attend, oui?... qui sait? We may even find you a husband there!".

Oui Votre Majeste, I did receive my invitation and I already have my outfit planned out. I am sure that you and the court shall like it.. Breathing deeply, I look at him and smile brightly and I am still holding his hand gently. A gentle breeze surrounds us and the sun makes my already golden hair shine brighter. I admit to myself that I feel relieved that the King doesn't know my secrets yet.

"Let us hope so, eh?... until the morrow's eve mon cher Baronne ". I kiss the back of her hand softly and return it to her. "Bonjour" I say with a gentlemanly bow and take my leave, eager to commence with the task at hand, as well as attend to last minute touches for la bal on the morrow.

Anne was walking through the garden and she walked to the fountain. She sighed as she sat down beside the fountain and watched as the swans swam across the lake and she smiled, her long hair whisking in the light morning wind.

The sun was shining bright on this day, I wanted to take a walk and get away from all that was happening at court I found myself next to the fountain.
I had one of my ladies sent to ask Diane to join me, It had been a while since we last spoke and I had missed her deeply.
