My servants and ladies are rushing about my chambers making sure that everything is readyfor my guest tonight. I have never entertained someone before but I must try and take this chance. I do wonder though if he is a sign, a sign for me to be more outgoing in life...to not rule out happiness and love. I change into a silver dress, my favorite, lined with gold trimming. My golden hair is pulled back tightly into a bun, nothing covering my hair. The smell of lilacs fill the room and I patiently await his arrival. This dress isnt too much is it? I ask one of my ladies, Its not like Im trying to make a huge impression on him as Im sure he has a woman to call his own but I wish to impress him still...

I am sitting in my favorite chair near a roaring fire. My mind wanders to the chapel but yet it scares me so. Such feelings and emotions run through me life fire. As I patiently await his arrival, I stare into the fire, zoning otu, my mind drifting to places unknown. Images of my past flash before me. Suddenly, one of my ladies walks into the room, clearing her throat, My Lady, you have a visitor. I stand up in acknowledgement and see him walk through the door, dressed to perfection, bowing in respect. Without thinking, I place my hand under his chin and raise him up. There is no need to bow to me. To be perfectly honest, I hate it. My ladies bring in some wine and we sit, starting to enjoy each other's company.

It is my pleasure Sir. I reposition myself in my chair, facing more towards him...getting quite close. As soon as I saw you in the chapel, I knew there was something about you that made me think to keep you close...I hope that doesnt sound silly of me. I see him leaning more and more towards me and my heart skips a beat. I am always searching for the man who is to be mine. I always have wanted to defy tradition for the nobleman and noblewomen by choosing someone for myself...to fall in love.

My father was hardened by war also, God rest his soul. I make the sign of the cross. I have no suitors as of right now.... I scoot closer to him. I do not wish to be constrained by a loveless marriage and I truly hope it doesnt happen. I want to.....to.....oh nevermind. Im sure you do not wish to hear me babble on and on. I will admit though that you are captivating and I want to keep you around, thats if you will let me. Did I just ask him to be mine?? I look to him, Are you with another woman? Its not my place to ask but I am quite curious.

I can only smile. I completely understand his point of view. I have too lost a love long ago, my deep little secret that no one knows about and neither shall he. I completely understand. I believe that one never truly and completely recovers from the loss of a loved one. I get up, pacing about the room, nervously. I see the moonlight shimmers across the lake. I speak softly, I would give all this up just to be happy once again.

Oh no you are fine....I take a deep breathe, looking out the window still.....It just seems that everytime that I take the first step in something, Im shot down and disappointed. But enough about me. I wipe a tear falling down myy face.

I smile and I try to regain my composure. I cannot help but to look at him, so handsome but yet so unassuming. He reminds me so much of my love I lost so long ago. He is definately not one to give up so easily on. I cannot help but to rest my hand upon his cheek, my thumb caressing him softly. I lean in and kiss his cheek, whispering, Any woman would be lucky to have a man such as yourself. In this short time, I feel as if I have gain a friend...Maybe more??

You have a heart Christophe....I look down slightly, placing my hand on his chest. My fingers traces it, ...You had enough heart to befriend this lonely, boring Baroness and brightening up her night with your presence. Never have I felt more comfortable with someone. I take his hand and I lead him to the fireplace. I sit down upon the floor, bekoning him, Please sit.....I motion for more wine. You must be open to the prospect of love again. Dont turn it away. Whomever she may be, she will help to heal the pain in your heart and slowly begin to heal the hole within you.

Well Christophe, I offer you the permission to get to find out my many mysteries. I am trying to be a more open person but so far, not so good. If anything, we are to be friend. I smile...

I feel so priveledged Christophe. I blush and take a sip of my wine. As I lick the sweet wine off my lips, I feel him surveying me like a piece of land. I clear my throat, What is it that you would like to know first Christophe? I lean in close....

I think long and hard. I have many secrets, many things I am afraid to talk about. My lost, departed love Henri, my family. Hope and Dreams? I have many. I fear that many things run through me like water in a stream. Life mostly. As in what will become of me, what will my life turn out to be. I think of happy times in my life. My life seems to be an open book. As I speak, I seem to be leaning in closer and closer to him. It is taking every single ounce of will power within me to not kiss him. I take his hands into mine, I think of how fortunate I am to have met a man like you. I do not care of rank, I just want to be happy with someone and have a life filled with happiness.

If this was my last day....I take a deep breath, I would want to leave this world in the arms of the man I love. To know that love would leave me happy in heaven. I lean in closer to him, my last reserves falling and dissapating, kissing him ever so softly. My hand rests on his shoulders. As suddenly as it happened, I pull away, Im sorry. I didnt mean to do that. I hope you dont think it rude of me but I couldnt help it. I smile, If you see that chance for happiness right in front of you again, take it because you never know when it shall be gone.
