Thomas looked at Simon with sad eyes. Once the priest finished his prayers, he came closer to him

Simon looked at Thomas. But he is resolute and instead begins to pray.

"The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.."

Fisher was among the priests and stared at Fish, his lips murmured incessantly prayers, he could still repent! His eyes widened as Fish started to pray loudly - in English! Fisher prayed louder too in the prescribed Latin, trying to drown him out.
He kept praying loudly as the fire was lit and Fish' voice and his were overruled by the crackling of the fire, he lowered his head not to see the man writhing on the pole, still shouting the psalm, though in fits and starts.

Thomas noticed Fisher giving his blessing to Fish. He was still praying. Once the guard set the fire, he started to burn. The flames were tall, and everyone could hear him screaming loudly. Thomas said a silent prayer for his soul and turned his head somwhere else, unable to watch...
