Edwards's Study

I am in my office, working on the final details of getting Elizabeth's dowry fully into my treasury....

Edmund stormed in Edwards study,"What have you done!"

I shake my head, I have done nothing. The King of Scotland found a contract that I was supposed to marry an English Princess and her name I will not reveal. Our marriage is invalid. I stand up from my desk and walk past him and out the door, heading to England.

Edmund grabbed his arm,"Where are you going? Will you just abandon my sister?"he said furiously.

She is the one that wishes to leave. I will not force her to do something against her wishes. She carries my child and I willl take care of the child fo rthe rest of my days. Now get your hands off me....I push him away from me.

I follow him to his study with the documents in my hands."Perhaps a drink before business?" I said as I made my way to the window.

Of course. Wine is immediately brought in along with a tray of fruits and bread to snack on. I can see that William looks troubled but I dare not ask why. I see the documents sitting on my desk and start to look at them.

I drink my wine and take a deep breath as I unroll the the document. "Here is where it states that my father had an affair with your mother." I pointed to the wording then handed it to him so he could read the entire article.

I am a bit stunned. So, this affair was ongoing for quite a number of years and my father was persuaded to marry my mother so I wouldnt be born an a illegitimate son but yet I still am. I lean back in my chair and take a deep breath, My father was given this castle as a gift for covering up for the King....great.

I stood up and tried to put myself in his shoes. "I would be angry too, but if you knew my father he wasn't a faithful man. My mother still lives only in fragile condition. I believe they were once in love, however once she found out about his affairs there was nothing she could do." I said only I feared my words only may have angered him more.

What man is faithful. We marry for alliance. Nothing more... Nothing can describe how angry I am

I didn't know what to do or say "Edward, you can look at it this way, you gain my brother and I as siblings. My brother James is not taking this very well either however, if we all speak to one another I feel we can gain not only a friendship, but a family bond as well.

I hope so as I grew up an only child. Would you like to attend my wedding in England? I look up at him

I smile as I see he has calmed down a bit. "Yes, that would be wonderful. If you don't mind me asking who are you marrying?" I asked curious if she was Scottish.

I smile, blushing slightly as I think of her, Princess Cordelia of England, the most beautiful angel.

As he spoke of Cordelia, my eyes opened wide. "You're engaged to his majesty's daughter?! You must really love that girl to face his wrath." I said knowing Henry well, after all we we are cousins.

I love her and need her more than the air I breathe. His Majesty just recently snnounced our engagement after negotiations. His wrath I will face for her. Anything for her. I take out the locket she gave me for my birthday and open it, gently running my finger over her portrait. I miss her so much!

I was shocked at his words "Well she is a lovely girl, and I pleased to hear you are in love." I looked at the locket and lowered my eyes praying for his sake he is truly in love with young Cordelia.

You must feel this way about someone....no? From the stories I have heard of the late King, when he wanted something, he went after with no qualms about it. Since we both have come from his loins, i seemed to have inherited that trait and I am quite sure you have also. I look at him, studyingnhim, and I can see that my presumption is right.

I took a drink of my wine and looked at him "Your presumptions are right, I've just married a lady in secret because she is not of noble birth my family would not allow it....however, she is carrying my child. Royal blood now grows within her. James and the others cannot touch her now." I said knowing soon my marriage would not be a secret.

...but do not forget that James can deem your child illegitemate and unable to inherit the throne. Just saying. I smile yet color leaves my face when Elizabeth and my child cross my mind. You are not the only one. My former wife is with child herself with what the physicians feel to be a daughter. I have written to His Holiness about legitimizing the baby and there will be a papal bull declaring the child to be my heir. So you shall be an uncle really soon.

He had a good point, although, there is no undoing what has been done.
I pat him on the back when tells me he too is expecting a child. "Congratulations brother! I'm pleased to have another brother you must come to the palace and meet the rest of our family, they would be pleased to meet you"

I would love to meet everyone since i grew up an only child. I say with a sigh. I am eager to return backto England and to my Cordelia.

"When is the big day? For I would like to be formally introduced to the princess Cordelia." I said wanting to be involved in his life.
