A Game of Truth

I have been residing at the court of Henry VIII for only a short couple of days now but have still yet spoken with the King of England himself. I decide to wonder the gradens of White hall and see His Grace, The Duke of Suffolk shooting archery. I decide that His Grace would be the perfect courtier to tell my goal for a peace treaty between Denmark and England to. I walk up to him *Nod* "Your Grace, care if I join thee? "

"Charles was enjoying his free time with his favourite pastime, archery. He felt relaxed with an arrow in his hand and he was going to prepare his bow for the next throw. But a male voice behind him made him lose his concentration for a while. He turned his head and recognized the King of Denmark. He heard about his arrival at court, but he couldn't imagine to meet him there. He bowed, a bit confused"

Your Majesty...

His Grace bows to me and as he arises I see the confused look upon his face. "Your Grace, I care to meet as many English courtiers while here in England. You at the top of my list". I grin a bit and walk over to the bows picking them up until I find one which feels right. I walk back over to the Duke of Suffolk and look at the target he has been shooting "Excellent shot, My Lord" .

"Charles threw down his bow and looked at him. He smiled for his compliment but shrugged a bit"

Well...I just do my best. Do you play archery too, Your Majesty?

"He asked, wondering why he was on the top of his list"

"I do , Your Grace. It seems back home in Denmark everyone shoots archery. " I laugh hoping to break the awkwardness between the Duke of Suffolk and myself. "I must confess , Your Grace. I am looking to make a treaty with your King"

"Charles frowned curiously"

A treaty? What kind of treaty? Have you in mind an alliance between Denmark and England, Your Majesty?

"He asked, bringing his hand until his eyebrows, to protect his eyes from sunlight"

"Indeed a treaty to unite our great countries. " I say firmly hiding my nervousness. I pray that the Duke was the right courtier to talk to about this treaty.

"Charles frowned for a moment, but then he nodded still looking at him"

I see...Well, I can arrange a private audience with His Majesty, if you wish. I'm sure he will be glad to receive you...

"He said while smiling"

I try to contain my enthusiasum as I see his Grace is far excited. I relpy "I am humbled by such a kind gesture , Your Grace. Mayhap there is a way to may your prospects more rewarding. "

I nod to him hoping to make the Duke an ally of Denmark .

"Charles laughed and shook his head"

Oh...there is no need, Your Majesty. I'm glad being useful to you. I'm just the King's loyal subject. And if your countries will become allies, you can consider myself your loyal subject too...

"He said with proud voice"

I grin "Awh You are a man of honor, Your Grace. I admire that ! So many time Couriters can not be has honest as you, My Lord. Shall we play our game of archery? "

"Charles nodded, pleased by his admiration for him"

Oh...but of course. I guess there is no need I teach you how to play, Your Majesty...

"He smiled and prepared his bow"

*laughs* "Nay, I am pretty well versed in archery. " I watch His Grace take his stance to shoot . He shoots and it strikes the bullseye "Well done, Your Grace. " I get ready to shoot and " What do you do for fun here at the English Court? "

"Charles put a pleased smile on his face, seeing his arrow hitting the target. He shrugged and looked at the King"

Oh...I usually enjoy riding and archery. But having children, I admit I have very few time, Your Majesty...

"He answered, looking at his bow"

I shoot hitting right beside His Graces arrow. "Horse back ridding and Archer , sounds just like Denmark. Have you ever been to Denmark? " I smile to his grace moving aside to let him have his turn. " Children you say? How many children? Deep within my soul I wish for children, so I may have heirs my throne. "

"Charles prepared his bow and kept on staring at the target"

No...I have never been in Denmark, Your Majesty. But I'd like to visit this mysterious and fascinating land. And...I have six children. So now you can understand why I have few free time...

"He said smiling and threw his arrow hitting successfully the target"

I grinned at his intrest in visiting my land "Any time you wish to visit Denmark please to send missive and you shall be more then welcome as a guest at my court. "

I prepare to shoot and my arrow and say " Six children your wife must have made you a very proud man. "

I choke as I say the word wife realizing that I have just secretly married myself.

"Charles showed him a weak, amused smile"

Well...the Duchess of Buckingham is not my wife, actually. I'm married with another woman...my ex pupil...

"He explained even if noticing his confusion"

I stand look on at the Duke with a complexed look in my eyes. " The Duchess of Buckingham is she the mother of your children? "

I know little of English ways but home in Denmark many men take mistresses. Leaving me with a lack in suprise by the Duke's words.

"Charles nodded, clearing his throat"

Yes...she is. But I never married her. You know...her father, the Duke of Buckhingham, was executed for treason. And considering my position at King's side, I can't marry a traitor's daughter...

"He explained holding his arrows"
