I stand at the ramparts of the citadel looking up at the moon gleaming as a  great round silver piece in the starry night sky. Ma belle amant et nièce Francoise has accompanied me. I join her in casting my gaze downward upon the dark purple and blue hills of the lush Restonica and Tavignano valleys below. The citadel is perched high on the summit of Le Lac de Capitello mountain, seven hundred feet above the valley. I take a deep breath and detect upon the warm breeze, the intoxicatingly-mingled fragrances of honey-sweet cistus, anise-scented fenouil and exotic, curry-scented L'immortelle d'Italie.

"Dites-moi Françoise... Avez-vous déjà debout au sommet d'une montagne comme celui-ci avant?" I say and wrap my arm around her shoulder. "Il se sent comme le sommet du monde n'est-ce pas?"
