A Quiet Spot

Keeping my eyes lowered, I nod. "His Majesty and I are related...." Sighing, I twist my fingers together as they are folded in my lap. "....Henry is my brother.."

I gulped, slightly aghast. The King only has two sisters, I think,"Then, Katie... I ought to call you Your Highness."

Looking up abruptly "Please...There is no need." With a warm smile, I gently flatten my gown as I look at Gwen. "I may be a Princess but even we need friends."

I smile and tap her hand,"Then you have one in me."

Smiling warmly "Thank you...It's so liberating to have someone to talk to." I relax more and feel even more at ease; allowing myself to feel calm.

"You will always have a confidant in me,"I promise.

"I am truly grateful. And you shall always have one in me" With a bright smile "You've heard all about my up bringing, tell me about yours?"

I shrug a little,"I suppose no different from many. I grew up with my mother and father and my five eldest brothers; the twins George and Tom and the other three James, Edward and John. I uh...well being the youngest of five brothers, I was teased a little..alot!"

I laughed and twirled my hair in my fingers,"So I decided I could be meagre or fight back...and I fought back. They now call me their fair warrio.r"

Laughing "I didn't get the chance to fight back! I was always the damsel in distress when I played with Henry and his friends..." My laughter fades slowly. "When, on the rare occasion, I was here of course." Moving quickly on from there, I take in a deep breath and smile. "So you know how to fight?"

I shrugged,"Eventually I convinced my eldest brother to teach me. My father and mother were...reluctant but I don't want to only be able to dance and sing...I wanted to do something...although I am a good dancer,"I ended laughing.

Smiling, I feel the calm and happiness wash over me. "So you know the steps in War and to music!" Sitting up straighter, adjusting my posture; I smile warmly at her. "Would you teach me to fight...or at least show me how to wield a sword?"

I laughed,"If you like-I do not know if I can teach. You must in turn teach me something too..."

Laughing "And what would you like to learn? What can I possibly teach you?"

I chuckled,"You must have some specialities-a subject in which you excel?"

Casting my eyes downwards, I sigh. "Not really, I can dance and always enjoyed it, that's about it! ....I'm not Henry, Margaret or Mary...I was trained to sit still, look pretty and smile graciously." Bringing my eyes up again, I smile sadly. "Which is rather unfulfilling really!"

"Oh hush, Katie you are far too harsh on yourself. You must tell how to sit and look pretty then-I'm rather clumsy,"I replied.

Smiling faintly "It's rather easy really! There's not much to it." I sit up, straightening my posture.
