Queen Katherine's Dining Room

"Your Majesty, my dearest husband... "
I go up to him to kiss him, as we almost used to. But now something is different...

"Yes I have, husband. We have talked about many things. Later he will hear my confession. Of which particular conversation were you wondering about, Henry, my dearest husband?"

I know he wants to talk about the nunnery, but I will not go. He must see I am his one true, loving, loyal wife. I will never leave him!

Softly and calmly I answer him
"I told him I could not give him an answer without Your Majesty's permission"

Sighing and heart broken, I look at him with love and something else. I realize it is longing
"Do I have your permission to talk to Campeggio?"
He sighs with anger, I can see his frustration boiling up inside him
"I will not speak to him if you do not want me to.."

I do agree, but I will not share my opinion. I do agree, it is important that I meet with the Cardinal, but for another reason. I will meet with him to declare my innocence and put a stop to my husband's barbaric actions against me. But I do not say this, I smile softly
"It would please me greatly, for you to do so. For I long to be your wife in ever sense of the word once again.."
I touch his hand softly and stroke it. Something which I knew used to fire him up. But now... this time, nothing...

I watch him go and I push my food away. His page boys also leave and I feel a hand on my shoulder. It's Maria, and I feel her support, telling me not to react to it. For I still need her, she is like my mother, she guides me..

Thomas entered in Queen's chambers and bowed deeply

Your Majesty...Bishop John Fisher is here...

Then he kissed deeply her hand while kneeling and left the room, allowing Fisher to walk inside

Fisher nodded thankful to Thomas and entered the room.



He bowed deeply.
Your Majesty... I am here to offer my support and help to you. he spoke softly though resolute.

He smiles reassuringly and takes her hand in his for a moment.

Your gracious majesty, of course not! Your place is next to the king, as his rightful and true wife. Do not fear, for God is on your side.

He shakes his head and smiles encouraging.

I have studied the case thoroughly and I do see options... if I may explain them to you?

"Please, go on.." I say to him, unsure of what he means. For I see no options at all before me...

He looks at her with compassion. She seems to have given up, understandable with all the pression they put on her. But he will defend her and fight for her rights as she deserves.

Your Majesty, I think they will try to make it seem like the dispensation that allowed His Majesty and you to marry in the first place was faulty. But the remedy for that is not to dissolve the marriage, it’s to get another dispensation from the current pope! Also the passage of time has rendered the marriage honest anyway and the principle of ´supplet ecclesia´ -which means the church completes- would have corrected any mistake in the popal dispensation!

He nods in agreement.

Indeed, that is what they want, most gracious lady... but that is also what we will gainsay. We have the evidence to win this trial, though in all honesty I am not sure if this will bring us advantage...

I stand to my feet "I know you are only trying to help, but I refuse. My marriage to the King is valid. God has allowed it and so it will be. God is the only one who can judge this matter. No one on earth!"

Fisher smiles weakly as she obviously finds her militancy back and nods.

You are absolutely right, your majesty. Who is bonded by God, no man can seperate! And that is exactly what we will make clear to the judges!
