Geoffrey entered in cloakroom and opened the wardrobe. He took a new red dress. Then he turned towards door and waited silently for Cardinal Wolsey

While he entered the cloakroom another servant approached him and handed him a parchment, softly telling him this is urgent. Wolsey walked over to the window and quickly read it, frowning deeply and then read it again. He creased the parchment, staring outside with a concerned face untill he heard Geoffrey softly coughing.
He sighed deeply and nodded at Geoffrey, walking up to him. 'Let's get prepared, today is an important day in history, master Geoffrey!' he held his arms up so Geoffrey could take off his current cassock.

Geoffrey nodded and removed slowly his current cassock. He took the new one and helped him to wear it
Yes, Your Eminence...
He just muttered. He didn't dare adding more cause he noticed the Cardinal was rather nervous...

Wolsey bited his lips while Geoffrey took off his cassock and slowly put on a new one. Suddenly he felt the weight of the upcoming trial entirely on his shoulders and no matter what the outcome would be, he would lose, one way or the other.
Geoffrey worked slowly and clumsy and Wolsey felt his impatience and agitation rising, why didn't he hurry up, why was George not here, George who exactly knew what to do instead of this nice young fellow who obviously was as nervous as he himself was?
Finally his cassock was on and he tugged on his collar to put it right, frowning deeply, while he waited for Geoffrey to strap his chain.

Once Wolsey wore his new cassock, Geoffrey took his collar with a large cross. He was going to put it on Cardinal's neck. But suddenly he felt his hands trembling and collar fell down on floor noisily. He looked scared at it and then turned his eyes to him
I...I'm sorry, Your Eminence...
He muttered apologetically

Just his collar and he was ready to leave. He already planned the order of actions in his thoughts as he felt the collar sliding down and in a flash he only saw the cross, the cross falling down and on it´s way it took the whole Catholic Church and Wolsey himself... His eyes filled with horror as the cross hit tinkling the floor, vulnerable and overcome.
Furious, he turned to Geoffrey, blinded by the symbolic meaning of his cross falling down and he made a slamming movement toward him and when George stepped backwards he tried to hit him again, before he came to his senses and stopped, perplexed, bowing his head in powerlessness and despair.
´Geoffrey! ...I am so sorry, please, forgive me...´ He frowned deeply while he looked apologetical at the trembling young man. ´are you... alright?'

As Wolsey hit him, Geoffrey fell down on the floor, next the collar. He raised istinctively his arms to protect his face, terribly scared. He didn't imagine such reaction from him. But as he noticed that Cardinal was getting calm again, he looked up at him and nodded slowly at his apologetic words. He stood up slowly, with collar in his hands
Yes...I'm...I'm alright, Your Eminence...
He wishpered with trembling voice. Then he succeded finally to put collar on his neck

Wolsey stood frozen and looked with horror at Geoffrey who came on his feet again and he sighed in relief as Geoffrey reassured him he was alright. In silence he let Geoffrey put on his collar again and he grabbed his cross to put it right on his belly. Finally ready he turned to Geoffrey, put gently a hand on his arm and smiled weakly.
´Again... I apologize, I overreacted and should not have... done what I did. I hope you forgive me one day and I assure you I will make it up to you. I thank you for your help, master Geoffrey, but now I must go.´
He looked him in the eyes and then left the room quickly, still shocked by his own action.

Geoffrey listened him silently and bowed deeply while he saw him leaving. Still confused, he looked at his painful wrist and hold it in his other hand. But he was no angry against Cardinal. Everyone at court knew it was a difficult moment for him, even himself. Then he took a deep breath and left quickly the room
