Nan walked to King's chambers with excited steps as she heard that court came to Whitehall that day. She left her room quickly and arrived the king's study room. She looked around hope to see Geoffrey but he was not around. She looked at servants at the door and bowed "I'd like to see his majesty. I'm Nan Saville"

Henry was signing some letters at his desk. A servant entered and announced lady Saville was waiting for an audience. He smiled wide and nodded quickly. He looked at the door

Nan smiled softly as she heard king's voice and she came into studying room. He was sitting on his chair behind the table. She relieved as she saw smile on his face. She bowed deeply kept on smiling "Your majesty!"

Henry stood up and opened his arms as Nan entered. He showed her a friendly, warm smile

Lady Nan...welcome back to court! I'm glad seeing you in good health. Please, have a sit. What can I do for you?

He asked, pointing at the chair in front of him

Nan walked to chair that she pointed and sat down slowly. "Actually you welcome here my lord, i've been here for 3 weeks. I'm so glad to see you all here again. And i'm so greatful you let me have some space and come here..." she said greatfully and smiled at her. "I hope you're in good health.."

He said curiously, smiling joyfully at her

Nan smiled fade out for a moment but she tried to keep smiling at him. "Yes, yes i was your majesty.. with my son and my ladies.." she said and looked around. Trying not to cry "I tried to avoid from sickness during that days..I could but my daniel couldnt."

Yes...I heard about that, Nan. I'm very sorry. I know perfectly how do you feel, dear. I lost my Henry Fitzory in the same way. Our only consolation...is knowing that our children are safe now, in God's hands...

He had to stop for a while, feeling his sorrow raising. But he shook fastly his head and tried to smile

You know, Nan...if you need something, you have just to ask...

Nan tried to smile after his words. Yeah maybe Henry and Daniel would be together there, in god's hands. She took a deep breath and waited a while after his last sentence. Something to ask? She looked down and tried to be brave. "Actually i have something.. to tell.. ask, your majesty if you excuse me.." she said but she was not sure. Also she was trumbling a bit. Could she ask why did he send her to tower? It was even so scary to rememember those days, how could she ask?

Henry leaned his elbow on chair and looked curiously at her. She looked suddenly uncomfortable. He rubbed softly his chin. Then he showed her a reassuring smile

My dear Nan...you know, you can ask me everything. How could I deny you something? You can consider me as a cousin...or better, a brother. Then don't hesitate further: what can I do for you, my dear?

He asked smiling, waiting for her request

King's that reassuring smile was relaxing her a bit but then she remember how everything can change. No matter how much she loves Henry, but she very well knew how moody he was. His mind could change so easily, She took a deep breath and put her trumbling fingers together on her lap. "I just.. want to know why i had been sent to tower.." she said and looked down silently. She was trumbling, waiting his reaction.

Henry's smile disappeared suddenly after her question. He was surprised. Why remembering that old story? Although, he admitted that she deserved an explaination. He leaned his back against his chair and looked at her pale face

The authour accused you of having a secret relationship at court...during your marriage. A marriage arranged by myself. Fernando was still alive that time. And you understand that I had to investigate. I sent you in the Tower to protect you, Nan. Indeed...I had no proves about your infidelity..

He stopped and leaned his elbow on his desk, staring at her

I want you to know...that I never believed at such accusations against you, Nan. Envy can destroy people's reputation. But not yours. I know you would never commit an adultery, betraying your King. And you're here, indeed. Innocent, and free...

Geoffrey entered in the room and bowed deeply. He noticed that lady Nan was there, in private audience with the King, and smiled at her. Hoping not to have interrupt something important, he walked slowly towards King's desk and handed him a letter

Your Majesty...a letter from Princess Mary...

Most gracious and most excellent Majesty,

I write to You as Your most humble, so faithful and obedient subject.

I ask after Your health and pray to God and all the saints and angels in heaven for your long life and good health. Your Majesty is the most kind of Princes in Christendom and with no doubt I should think even the angels weep in jealousy of Your goodness and mercy.

 Secondly, I open my heart to Your Grace,I pray that Your excellent, knowledgable, pious and wise Majesty, may grant me an audience with you. I know you have many matters more important than I. However I wish to see my father and demonstrate my love.

He left the letter on the table. Then he bowed again

Your Majesty...lady Saville...

He smiled friendly at Nan and left the room

Henry nodded at Geoffrey and read carefully the letter. He smiled tenderly, seeing his daughter's affection. Then he turned his eyes towards Nan again

Nan listened him carefully. She was really afraid to ask that question but she needed to know what King knew about that story. He knew the truth or it was just a protection for Nan really? She looked down for a moment. Henry believed in Nan. He believed that she never would betray a marriage that he arranged. She tried to nodded and smile. Then suddenly someone came into room before she said something. It was Geoffrey. She tried to smile at him. She wasnt sure he noticed she was nervous or not. After he left she looked at he king and tried to do her best smile. "Yes, your majesty and i'm so greatful for you protection and gracios."

He suggested, looking directly at her surprised eyes. Then he leaned his elbow on his desk and waited for her reaction

He added proudly, leaning his back to chair. Since Nan's parents died, he took this young girl under his direct protection. He gave his word to lord Saville, to assure a future to his daughter. And he wanted to keep his promise

A servant entered and brought him another note. It was from his cousin James. It seemed that he'll come at english court soon with his bride. After reading, he put the note on the table. Then sent the servant away and turned towards Nan again, smiling

Nan was listening him silently, her eyes were on his desk while he was talking. She felt her heart beating got faster as she heard Charles and Margaret's name. She gulped silently and tried to smile wide and kindly. "You're so kind and generous your majesty. Of course i'd like to have a husband and have children. But i dont think its gonna happen until i find the true one.." she said considering Charles. The right one? Never, she thought unhopeless.

He said seriously, but adding a smile at the end of his sentence. Nan was so unlucky with her first marriage. Now he wanted make him sure to choose a better one, this time
