Anne Bassett's bedchamber

Catherine was in Kimbolton Castle for few days now and haven't seen Anne since her arrival, she went to Anne's chambers, and gently knocked on the door.

Anne had read the book and heard a knock at the door.

"Come in."

She put down the book and turned to the door and saw Catherine.

"Hello dear Catherine. I'm glad to see you!"

Catherine entered the room and smiled brightly as soon as she saw Anne.

I'm so glad to see you, Anne. I hope, I don't disturb you?

She smiled and got up from the chair.

"Of course not. Come in and make yourself at home. Can I offer you a goblet of wine?"

She went to the table and poured wine into two goblets. Then one filed to Catherine.

Wine would be nice. Thank you.

Catherine said with warm smile as she took the offering goblet, and sat down on the chair.

When did you arrived? I've not seen you here for days.

She took a sip from the goblet. It was sweet and very delicious.

"You're welcome."

Anne said with a smile and sat down opposite Catherine.

"I arrived a few days ago. I stayed in Whitehal a few days. I wanted to enjoy my free days."

She drank wine and laughed.

"I have to admit that there was quite boring."

Catherine raised her  eyebrows in disbelief and laughed.

Boring in Whitehall!? I cannot imagine that. There's always fun.

She nodded and took a sip of her wine.

"If there isn't a queen, it's not interesting. The King often ride to various hunts, but a lady in waiting of Queen Catherine have a difficult to find entertainment."

You make a good point there. Anyway I'm glad you're here.

She simply said, with a big and sincere smile.

Do you ever plan to go back at Whitehall?

Catherine asked with curiosity as she held the goblet in her left hand.

She smiled at Catherine.

"Thank you. You're very dear to me. I'm very glad that I'm here. And also that I see you again."

She winked at Catherine cheerfully and put the goblet on the table.

"I think I'll stay here for a while. When Queen won't need me, maybe I'll go back to Whitehall. But here I like it more because here is a pleasant calm."

She said sincerely as she took a one more sip from her wine, before she placed at the table.

It's so peaceful out here, I must agree. The kind of peace you cannot find at court.

She rubbed her hands together in front of the fire to keep them warm.

She smiled and agreed.

"Yes, it's true. At court rule the rush. I not wonder that the Queen came here to Kimbolton Castle. I'd like to live here forever."

She sat back and thought.  Kimbolton Castle was a quiet place.

Everything was new and strange to her—she had everything to learn about the court and this place.

I don't believe Queen wanted to be here. The King abandoned her. She didn't have other choice.

She said in a painstakingly honest voice.

But yes, it's nice and quiet. Not like court at all.

She nodded and frowned.

"Unfortunately yes. King is in love with Anne."

She sipped the wine and put the goblet back on the table.

"I hope that the queen will like it here."

She took another sip of her wine and leaned back in the chair.

I daresay, she'll not like it here. How could she? It isn't a court, and lavish place, the Queen get used to it. And the King isn't here, nor her daughter.

Catherine could say that much in all honesty.

She nodded sadly.

"Unfortunately yes. I regret, that isn't here Princess Mary. Queen wouldn't at least be so sad."

She cleared her throat softly.

"Our good Queen didn't deserve it."

She nodded in agreement and said in somehow sad voice,

She definitely didn't deserve it, at least if they'd allow her to see Princess Mary.

She tried to smile.

"I think if there was Princess Mary, it would be here for the Queen much better. I don't understand why the King doesn't want to afford visits between Queen and Princess."

She shook her head disapprovingly.

I believe she'd feel better if only can she see her daughter.

She said, then thought for a while.

I think he's afraid, they'd plot something against him. So he keeps them separated.

Anne nodded, because what Catherine said was really interesting.

"Yes, it is possible. I think you're right. The King may worry that the Queen and Princess will talk bad about him. But I think that our good Queen wouldn't say a bad words about him."

I don't believe our Queen would ever do such thing. She loves him very much, even if he breaks her heart in million pieces.

She said in all honesty, while taking a small sip of her wine.

"Yes, it's true. She haven't a reason to say some nonsense about him. She really loves him deeply, no doubt about it."

She said quietly and with sincerity.

Yes, that's true.

She said in agreement.

But enough about it. We cannot change anything. We should talk about more pleasant things.

"I totally agree. Was a lot of wrong things."

She smiled brightly at Catherine.

"Do you have any news? I'm a little curious."
