A servant came and left a note.

"My precious friend ,

I heard about your lost and I can't explain how sorry i am with my worthless word. I will be at the funeral and if you wish I'd like to speak with you after the funeral. Please be strong , because she'd want you to be. Do not blame yourself.

Alfonsina.."

"While he was waiting for Nan's answer, a servant came in the room and delivered a note directly in his hand. After he left, he read it carefully. He smiled weakly, noticing that Alfonsina was at his side too"

It's from Alfonsina, sweetheart. She says that she will be at Funeral too...

"He explained, raising his eyes towards Nan"

"Charles sighed after she left and threw himself on bed again. He stared at ceiling for a long while. Widow...it was such a weird word for him. After some minute, he stood up and walked in the bathroom. He needed to wash himself and dressing up like it was a normal day. Even if it was not..."

After one day from the funeral , Alfonsina decided to see Charles. She must be sure if he is okay or not. Maybe he wanted to talk with someone , Alfonsina thought. But then she smiled herself. She knew Charles. These days , he didn't feel himself talking very much. She washed herself and dressed up. She brushed her long blonde hair and leave them on her shoulder. Then she made her own way to Charles' room. When she came , she knocked the door and spoke.

"Charles.. Are you in?

"Charles was lying on his bed, looking thoughtfully at ceiling. He tried to sleep but he couldn't. He already missed Margaret. As he recognized Alfonsina's voice at the door, he sat on bed and turned his head"

Yes...I'm here, Alfonsina. Come in...

After she heard Charles' permission , she opened the door and came into the room. She saw Charles was sitting on the bed. She walked towards him fast and hugged him softly. Then she kissed his cheek and sat near him.

"I know it will be a ridiculous question but how are you?"

"Charles smiled warmly at Alfonsina as she entered. He hugged her tightly and let her kissing his cheek"

I'm...a bit confused, Alfonsina. I still can't believe she is not among us anymore. Thank you for coming at Funeral, yesterday...

"He answered with a weak smile"

She smiled weakly.

"I know that feeling.. It is very awkward right? Yesterday you were with her and then today.. But I am sure that she is in a good place now."

Then she added.

"And I am sure that she would want you to move on.."

"Charles sighed and nodded slowly"

Maybe...If only I was a better husband for her. Probably she would be still alive...

"He added sadly, looking down"

She shook her head and held his hand.

"I didn't know her personally. But I am sure that she would be upset if she heard you saying this."

"He nodded slowly and squeezed softly her hand"

Then she smiled.

"Charles smiled joyfully this time"

Your husband must be very happy and proud. And I'll be honoured being his godfather. If you still wish so, of course...

"He said smiling, looking at her face. Her eyes were more bright when she talked about her baby"

She nodded and smiled.

"Of course you will be.. Who can i think for being godfather better than you?"

Then she added.

"Yes , Edward loves his son so much. He is very happy indeed. After he came back from France , we had a lot of argument. Now , we are trying to be better."

"Charles nodded in agreement with a smile"

"He asked curiously"

"We named him Thomas Rinaldo."

"Charles smiled her back, a bit surprised"

Thomas Rinaldo...nice name. Where this name comes from, Alfonsina?

"Thomas is Edward's father and Rinaldo is my father."

She smiled again.

"Charles nodded slowly"
