Princess Madeline's bedchamber

After I couldn't find James I proceed to Madeline's chambers to see if she was in. I knocked and hoped was there. "Maddy are you in?" I said wondering if she would recognize my voice.

I lay on my bed, reading a book as I hear a knock and a very familiar voice. My lips part in a huge smile as i hear my brother William's voice. I rush to the door and open it to throw my arms around his neck, hugging him.

William!!! What brings you to England??

I smile as soon as she opens the door. I was most happy to see her. I hug her in return, "It's so good to see you dear sister." I said and walked into her room "I've come because of you and James of course. With him Marrying in secret I must meet this woman who has taken our brother's heart."

I frown and sigh as he mentions James' secret marriage.

He has not even told me he was marrying, let alone invite me. I found out after they married. Do you know of this Lady Lilianna?

I see her frown and put my arm around her, "All I know is that she is or was the princess of Italy. So she is very prominent. She has royal blood" I said as I took a goblet and filled it with wine. "I'm quite anxious to meet her and her family" I said and smiled. "Although I do agree with you that James should of at least informed us of his union."

I roll my eyes as I force a smile

James sometimes fails to think rationally. I wonder why the secrecy and the rush?

I fill a goblet of wine for myself as William drinks his.

"Well that's what I am here to find out." I said as I took another drink of my wine. "Tell me about you, are you enjoying your time here at our cousins court?"

I sit in a chair as I smooth down my gown, biting my lip before speaking.

I am.... but James will be furious I have failed to do as he asked of me.

I go and sit by her, growing concerned of her words. "Sister, why have you failed James?" I asked wondering what sort of mess she had got herself into.

I frown and slouch in the chair as I nervously fidgeted. I thought William would have known also

I failed to persuade our cousin from divorcing his catholic Queen. I...did not even get to talk to him about it. I was frightened.

I smiled "My sweet innocent sister, Henry is a very thick headed man and will stop at nothing to get his way. I don't know why James would call upon you to do such a duty." I hugged her "Never fear sister, tis I who needs to him in his place." I said feeling angry for putting our sister in such a position.

[i]Sighing, I hug my brother back, resting my head on his chest.

William....You know how James is. He does as he pleases. I do not wish him angry at me. Perhaps I can try again , to persuade him.

I look at her, "No Maddy what's done is done. Like I said, trying to change Henry's mind now would be like trying to turn straw into gold. It's impossible." I said with a stern look.

I smile faintly at my brother and hug him again as I nod my head.

Very well then. I shall let it rest. Still, I know not why James asked this of me. I know nothing of politics . I know he is upset with this but tis not our matter. I spoke to Cardinal Wolsey about it and ....he frightened me as well. I wish to go back to Scotland, William!

My eyes fill with tears as I think of my foolish attempt to sway the King of England , all to please my older brother.

When she speaks I could feel nothing but anger towards my brother and his foolish decisions. "Come here sister. Do not fret about this matter any longer, tis not your obligation." I said as I hugged her. "If you wish to return home you have my permission to do so." I looked at her and smiled.

I look at my brother and smile as he says I can return home with his permission.

What of James? Will he not be angry that I did not ask for his permission? And perhaps I shall stay a bit longer!

My cheeks flush as i think of my intimacy with Anthony

"What ever you wish my dear sister. I shall deal with James." I then noticed her cheeks turn pink. I wondered what she could being feeling shy about.

I smile as i am so pleased William is in London also as James can be quite difficult with me.

Oh William....what would I do without you ? I cannot tell you enough how pleased I am to see you here. Now tell me....any news from Scotland?

I frown and let her in. I look at my brother then whisper in her ear.

I...I need to know if I may be with child. I fear I behaved poorly and now....I pay for it!

I received a note from my sister that needed to speak with me. So I walked to her chambers and knocked at her door. I wondered if this had to do with her rushing off the other day.

"Maddie are you in?"

[i]I nervously let him in and avoid his eyes. I know I did wrong and now I am paying for it. I gesture to him to sit. I tremble lightly. William could be just as frightening as James[i]
