He sigh in relief as she finally promises him to obey and he smiles vaguely.
'Only in case, my love, of course such thing will never happen. But thank you for your promise, it makes me feel better knowing you will be safe, no matter what happens.'

He frowns as she asks him to make a promise too and places his hands on hers.
'My love! Of course I promise you never to take away my life. It would be the greatest sin in the eyes of God and our faith! I should not have said that, but the thought of anyone harming you.... I can handle everything but that!'

His voice fails him and he bends forward to kiss her deeply.

Wolsey gets out of bed and takes his arm to make him sit at the table. He makes Joan sit down too and places his hands on her shoulders as he notices her pale face.
'Please, calm down, George and tell me everything you heard, right from the start.'
George takes a deep breath and tells them every word he heard. Once finished, he lowers his head, he dares not to look at the Cardinal. Wolsey is silent for a while, thinking quickly, then nodd.

'thank you, George... you may go now.' He waits for him to bow and leave the room and then he hugs Joan tightly.
'My love, I can slow down but not prevent what will happen next. I think you should pack our private posessions and collect the rest, they belong to the king and he will want everything back.'

She wakes up, has a little breakfast and starts to tidy up their possesions and everything else, so they can be ready to go to Esher anytime they will have to*

*George comes to help her and he's really useful because he tells her which things belong to them and which not, but she realizes they haven't got many things of their own; but when she will pack Thomas' cardinal garments George says they aren't his, and she really can't believe such a thing, what for will the king need the garments?, garments which have always belonged to Thomas to perfom his job. You come and explain her that Geroge is right , garments don't belong to you, and she can't belive it, feels sad that you even have to leave your garments* oh my love *says after a long kiss* I really didn't know that. 'I just don't want you to suffer, my angel. Both Dukes looked at me if they could drink my blood. I will not flee but I am sure they will use all means to humilate me. I don't give a hoot for myself but I won't allow this to happen to you, you did nothing to deserve such a treatment! I expect them to come back first thing tomorrow morning, so I want you to stay here with me today and tomorrow morning, George will accompany you to Esher, I will join you there only a few hours later.'

Smiling softly he looks at her combative expression and takes her head gently in his hands.
'My love, I won't fight against the king's wishes. Cromwell told me he can refute all accusations they put against me. I decided though I will plead guilty at the praemunire, to avoid a trial, and put my fate into the king''s hands personally to asses whether I displeased him or not.'
