She quickly nodded, giving a faint smile, "we lived in the country as well...I was also a very lonely child." She gave a shrug, "our family was not very close," she looked up at him, "my papa was always away on business, never staying for more than a month...and when my brothers weren't at university or at training, they were at the manor, trying to be kind to me, though my mother spoiled them and tried to keep them from me."
She shook her head quickly, "pardon me, monsieur, I fear I have said too much," she gave a faint smile.

He looked at her and felt what he thought was affection. "I think often children are lonely, Adults so rarely want anything to do with their offspring. That's why children are sent away to be educated, married off, and so forth. But my family was poor, we lived off the land, hardly ever leaving our home. But poor families are closer because all they have is each other. I got into the army so I could see more of the world, thought some would think I was trying to escape."
He shook his head. "Your mother should not have tried to keep you and your brothers separate. Siblings are a part of yourself. Please, do not feel you are talking too much. This is the most I've spoken in a long while." He laughed.

Coralie's eyes rose and she nodded. "That makes much sense," she nodded. She gave Christophe a smile, "well...look at you now," she beamed, "a soldier, and member of court."
Coralie placed her fingers at her heart. "Yes...my brothers mean the world to me...much like my dear papa."
She giggled, "do you not talk much, monsieur?...I would think you were a very popular and talkative man."

"I suppose I am better than I would be otherwise," he said chuckling. "Can you not visit them?" He smiled, feeling a little embarrassed. "I usually only talk when I have something to say, something important." He looked down at the ground to hide his expression.

Coralie looked down, "perhaps," she nodded, "Chevelier is at university in Paris, but Pierpont...," she stopped a moment. "I do not know where my eldest brother is at the moment."
She smiled and laughed, "why monsieur...you seem to have the most interesting of things to say!"

Christophe frowned. "You don't know where he is?" This seemed a serious matter. "When was the last time you heard from him?"
He knew he was blushing as Coralie complimented him. "I do not think so. Not many people like to hear of war and bloodshed, starvation and the fear of dying. Those things were very commonplace to me at one time or another. I don't really know how to fit into society or where I would belong." He admitted with a sheepish shrug.

Coralie blinked a little, "a month before my mother sent me away," she gave a laugh. "He is a wanderer...he may very well be in Paris with Chevelier."
Coralie leaned forward and put her chin on the palm of her hand, a smile on her lips. "I am certain his majesty and many other gentleman would like to hear of what you would to say about the battlefield." Her eyes widened a little, "the stories, the training...you could tell them your opinions of it all, and perhaps even make friends and raise rank," she smiled.

"I am sure your brother can take very good care of himself and will not run into trouble. And if he does.. a soldier knows what to do." He reassured her.
"Perhaps they would like to hear my stories, I think it would be good for some to learn what it really is like out on the field. But I do not care for rank or new titles. I only want to live the life I've been given, I want no more than that."
His eyes brightened. "How about we begin your riding lessons tomorrow? We can meet first thing in the morning out in the stables. If you think you are ready," he added playfully.

Coralie nodded, giving a laugh. She could imagine her brother taking on an alley full of vagabonds...of course he probably was the one to get himself into that situation.
Coralie smiled, her chin still in her hands. "That is very noble, monsieur...very knightly of you."
Her eyes widened in excitement, "oh, yes, please!!" She grinned, "if you have nothing else to do," she blushed. "I would think you had a damsel to rescue or perhaps an exotic king to protect," she smiled.

He smiled softly. "The damsels I know are quite capable of fending off ogres and treacherous villains on their own. But we shall meet early in the morning, unless you sleep late? I myself tend to rise with the sun, but whenever you are ready I will be waiting."

Coralie's eyes grew wide in excitement, "Oh, I could wake up earlier!" She giggled and looked at her lute, "I often wake up early anyway because the other ladies don't, and they leave her majesty alone." She smiled, "I shall be there!"

He smiled. "Then I shall meet you early tomorrow morning at the stables. And wear something comfortable. It's cool in the mornings so also dress warm." He stopped himself, realizing he sounded like someone's parent, and he smiled. "Have a good evening, mademoiselle." He offered to take her back to the palace.

Coralie nodded and smiled, "I will."
Coralie hopped to her feet and gave a little curtsey, "good evening monsieur."
She stopped before she allowed him to take her back. She turned to face him very seriously, "if you do not mind...I think I should like to call you Bravesir Christoph," she smiled giving a laugh.

Hr chuckled at her new name for him. "I like it. I shall wear this name with honor." He took her hand and led her back to the palace, feeling something in his heart he could not name, but he knew he had a fondness for little Coralie, almost as if she were his own kin.

Pierre picked up the nearest rock, and threw it into the water. He was so incredibly bored. What was he going to do for the rest of the day? He wanted someone to talk to.

Eleanor was taking a break from the English court and was spending a day outside, walking around and she came to a beautiful place. She heard the sound of something falling into the water and saw a man she thought she knew, when she was younger.
"Pierre, is that you?"

He slowly turned his head, and stopped as he saw Eleanor. "Eleanor," he continued, and walked up to her," I cannot believe it is you," he said, happily. With that he stretched his arms out, and hugged her tightly.

I am completely confused these days. I believe that I have found a love like no other in Christophe, a love so pure and so deep. On the other hand, it seems that I am reaching to far ahead of myself. I do know that he is only a mere soldier but he is morfe human, more real than all of the aristocratic men. I have feelings for this man but does he feel the same of me. I fear that he doesnt...just my luck.
I see a tree with no one near it and move to sit underneath it to wait for my dear friend Coralie. I am truly in need of her opinion in this matter...

Coralie glided through the forest to the same spot she first met her friend Christophe. He had told her so much about a new lady interest of his, and she wanted to meet this woman he spoke so much of as he seemed quite taken by her and very happy.
She caught sight of a blonde woman beside the tree, and she smiled, giving a curtsey, "Hello, your ladyship," she smiled.

I hear a noise behind me. Frightened, I turn to look around and notice a young woman and it must be Coralie. I stand up, smoothing out the wrinkles in my dress as she curtsies in front of me. I take a deep breath to steady myself as I am quite nervous to be talking to someone about something like this. What is someone tell HIs Majesty? I do not wish to think of it.
I smile, You must be Coralie. It is truly a pleasure to meet you. I motion fo her to sit down on the grass and I join her. I fiddle with a flower in my hands, searching the depths of soul for the right words to say. I want to thank you for meeting me here. I have heard that you have the ear of Christophe and I was wondering if you could be a confidant of myself and perhaps help me with my current matter.

Coralie threw her hand over her mouth, eyes wide. "Did I frighten you?...good heavens, I am sorry," she blushed, giving a giggle.
She gave a nod and took a seat upon the grass, smoothing the skirts of her gown out around her in a little circle.
Coralie's eyes went wide as she placed a hand over her heart. "Me?" she blinked. She laughed, "yes, you are correct that I am a friend of Christophe's, however," she laughed nervously again, "I fear I am perhaps not the person to give you such advice."
She smiled and tilted her head, "yet, I think I should like to help you as best I can, and be someone to talk to of such things," she nodded.

I take a deep breath, I love him, more than I thought I could ever love a man. He is perfect in everyway, shape, and form. He cares for me, I think, in return. I begin to blush and look away for a moment, picking flowers. Do you know if he cares for me?

Coralie smiled as Angelique spoke, and she could see that even the thought of Christophe made her blush.
Coralie giggled, looking down, "I fear I should not say, I am certain he would not want me to," she laughed. She smiled, "yet, I know for sure, that he often speaks of you as though you are an angel sent from above, an angel whose kindness and beauty makes him smile," she nodded.

That is most reassuring to hear Coralie. I would be willing to give up everything for him, my title, my income....everything if it meant to keep him near me. I hand her a flower, smiling from ear to ear, still blushing brightly. I lay down upon the soft green grass and look up to the sky. He is heaven sent. He is the only man I have met that doesnt care for my title.

Coralie laughed, taking the bright colored flower in her hand and placing it behind her ear. Yet she shook her head, taking a quick seat.
"Oh, no, no," Coralie shook her head, her eyes wide, "that is why Christophe keeps himself at a distance." She looked down, "he cares for you too much to see you give up such things for him...or at least that is what I think," she blinked.
"He is such a man that pulls his whole heart in falling in love, and I fear, he would never want to cause you such unhappiness or upset at the loss of title, for he thinks he is but a lowly soldier," she shook her head. "But that is not true, and I can see the both of you truly love each other, but I think you are both fearful of hurting the other."
She tilted her head and smiled at Angelique, "but you both must not let any such fears get in the way, I think."
