Great Hall

'When my affair was founded out I mysteriously had a suitor. On our last encounter I was followed by one of Francis' spies. I was told to stay away from you but... I couldn't I.. just couldn't do it.'

Eliza tried to keep her voice steady but she felt sick to her stomach. Why did she have to tell him this.

'I did write to tell you but I guess you never got my letters.'

Anthony shook his head, "Why are you only telling me now? I have had no note, no letter."

Eliza found it hard to control herself before she knew it she was crying.

'We had a child I was sent away to Ireland. After the child was born Francis placed him in a household. Everybody thought that I gave Carew a stillborn son but I didn't. As the son was yours and very much alive.'

Eliza couldn't even look him in the eye. She had known that Denny would probably never of known this and he never would've. But she had to tell him to share the hurt with somebody.

Anthony felt a surge of sympathy as she wept but after his words, dismay. He finished his ale, slamming the cup on the table. He leaned close, not wanting anyone to hear the words he were sure to be lies.

"How can you possibly be certain it's mine-if you've lain with your husband? I knew you before him-months before." he muttered.

"I have no son," he added.

'No I had to marry Carew because I was carrying your child. I have never been sexually active with my husband hence why he is never at court.'

It hurt Eliza to have him think that she was lying she had no reason to lie to him ever. As she stood she flung the finally heart wrenching words at him-

'Sadly he died of the plague as he was living in such poor conditions. Conditions that your apparent best friend had put him in. You have turned into a heartless man why must the woman suffer and take all blame in this. I didn't force you to lay with me did I.'

Anthony stood up and held her hand, pulling her back to sit down, "How can I be heartless towards a child I did not know existed? If you had come to me I would have cared for the child and you. You know that, Beth-regardless of whose child-I would have made sure you were both safe. There is no blame-this is no one's fault. You know I would have done the right thing."

He sat back and rubbed his head, pouring him and her another cup of ale.

Eliza pulled her hand away from his rejecting the ale. It seemed that Denny wasn't listening to her properly forcing her to no longer wanting to talk about this.

'Only my father and Brother I blame them. I bet you wished you hadn't walked over to me now.'

Anthony sighed, "What do you want me to say, Beth? I cannot change what happened, God knows I wish I could."

'At least you know you can sire children.'

Eliza said sarcastically to her this all felt wrong. She had had it all planned out in her head exactly what she wanted to say how to say it. It was sad on her part that she couldn't tell him in a much more respected manner other than over ale.

Anthony sighed and leaned his chin upon the palm of his hand, "I'm not discussing this here with you, Beth. Especially when you won't hear me."

He stood up, finishing his ale as he did, "You know where to find me if you decide to speak with clarity and some sense."

He smiled weakly, and touched her shoulder, "I am sorry...if I ever caused you pain. It was never my intention."

He then bowed his head and left the hall.

Grace walked into the Great Hall. She hadn't been there sense she was a child with her father and mother and her sister. She was there to met the people of the court. And also to met her uncle well half uncle the king. Who hadn't seen her sense she was a child.

"Charles was walking along the Great Hall, thinking at his eldest son, Charlie. There was something that made him worried about him. When suddenly he noticed a blonde lady standing alone. He came closer and bowed"

My lady...

"Your grace"She said with a low curtsies to him.

"Charles looked at her and smiled"

Sorry...I didn't mean to disturb you, my lady. But...I never saw you before. Are you new to court?

"He asked"

"I am your Grace my father is Roland de Velville. " She said softly.

"Charles looked thoughtfully at her"

Uhm...I never heard about him, my lady. But I'm sure he is a great man. And...what's your name?

"He asked kindly"

"Grace de Velville Baroness of Beaumari."She said with a curtsies to his grace.

"Charles took her hand and kissed it softly"

Nice to meet you, Madam. Welcome at court...

"He bowed and smiled"

"Thank you your grace. I am also the king's niece."She said softly with a smile on her father.

"Charles looked surprised at her"

King's niece? Oh...he never talked me about you, my lady. I wonder why...And, are you here to visit your uncle?

"He asked, very impressed by her beauty and elegance"

"I am and my father is ill."She said looking down.

"Charles opened a bit his mouth in surprise"

Oh...I'm sorry to hear that, my lady. Hope it's nothing serious. By the way...is your father cousin to King Henry?

"He asked curiously"

"No your grace his half brother and thank you your grace."She said looking at him he was very handsome.

"Charles nodded smiling"

Oh...I see. Hope you're enoying english court...

"I might be joining the court in France. "She said softly to him.
