King's Throne room

Charles had heard news that his sister wanted to see her, and sitting from his throne his eye cold eyes stared at her and he let a small smile come on his lips before standing up "Sister, what a surprise, I must say." he admitted and he tilted his head at her before walking down the few steps from his throne and he embraced her, before pulling back and looking at her "How is your...husband to be." he said, a glint in his eyes as he mentioned him "And how are you, of course."

Catherine shrugged she hadn't want to set eye's on her betrothed. About that I'm not to sure about how to put this. You know André de Resende, he was caught being intimate with John. Catherine let the words sink in it was a great shock to her too. I don't understand why people would make up a rumour like that unless it was true. I also think John to be of mad mind as he says our father is still alive.

Charles raised an eyebrow and he let out a long sigh before turning away "This is deemed impossible, our father is dead and buried." he said emotionless and he took long graceful strides before turning and looking at Catherine "But unfortunately there is nothing that can be done about this..he is a king.." he said and he looked away "And you must be married to him, even if your brother is the Emperor."

Catherine felt sick to the stomach. No I can't marry a man who likes other men it's unholy. Detest the marriage it was our father that arranged it. You can't send me into a marriage unprepared an Emperor is stronger than a king. Catherine could argue this issue over and over but it would get her no where. She felt greatly sad about her fate and would rather be a nun than marry John.

Charles nodded at her and he sighed "It is improper." he admitted and he turned back around to her "But what would you have me do?" he asked her and he shook his head "Yes I am more powerful, I could crush him and his sweet Portugal if I wanted to with my thumb, but what good would that do?" he asked her and he looked down before looking back at her "I cannot overwrite what father has put out, that is improper."

I just want want someone to care for me that is all brother. Catherine held back the tears that threatened to fall. Catherine would just have to do as she was told even though it was madness. What do we do now that people say our father is alive?

Charles sighed and he looked at her "I will care for you, of course." he said and he shook his head "We will go on as we did before, show no emotion to their accusations."

One day Charles you shall have children. I only hope you will be much more kinder than our father was. Where is the Empress? Catherine knew that Charles would be kinder than her Father. Charles had a heart for one thing but, Catherine wanted peoples tongues cut out for their slanderous accusations.

Charles almost laughed at her words and he shook his head "The Empress?" he asked her and he looked away "In Bavaria, doing who knows what." he said to her and he raised an eyebrow "I care not though."

But she is you're wife are you really that unhappy. It seemed that happy marriages did nit exsist in this world. Catherine regretted coming now. She longed to go back and be with her mother.

The emperor shrugged his shoulders "I care not for she cares not about me." he said to her simply "I am her master and lord yet she abandoned me for Bavaria." he looked away from her and he laughed a little "Yet fools on her, for I am one of the most powerful men walking this Earth.." he trailed off and then looked at his sisters "Perhaps we should dine tonight?"

The world was turning into madness Catherine whispered. It was now that she could see why Henry Tudor was marrying for love. Lack of communication in marriages always turned them to ruins. What are you going to do Charles. Catherine asked in a frightful voice. She was never easily scared but Charles had a temper like a bull.

Charles shrugged a little and he looked at her "If my wife comes back from Bavaria and I find out she has been unfaithful.." he shook his head "I will not take it so kindly."

What are you going to do cut of her head and parade it around on a spike? We are not barbarians and you have no heirs. You need heirs it is dangerous times for an Emperor to have no heirs. Catherine looked at her brother worriedly she did not want people to think of him as inhuman.

Charles looked at her and he raised an eyebrow "And what am I to do?" he asked her "Parade a whore about my halls as my loyal wife and Empress?" he asked her and he took a deep breath and pinched the bridge of his nose "It is a complex situation, dearest sister, and I am stressed and worried about what I have to do.." he released the bridge of his nose "I have a policy to be authoritative yet righteous...I provided these lands with laws to follow, I cannot turn my back on them." He let out a long sigh and he looked out the window "But I do also have the right to be merciful."

Tears sprang to Catherines eye's she couldn't act on this information that would be a betrayal of all. I didn't know that she had been unfaithful to you Charles. Catherine whispered growing more upset by the minute. Her perfect little world had started to develop cracks revealing nothing but the cold harsh day of light. Do you have anothet suitor brother.

Charles looked at her and he raised an eyebrow "There has been rumours that she had been unfaithful, sister. but with rumours comes truth." he said and he took a deep breath and he shook his head slowly "I am waiting until she comes back and I will question her myself."

I would just like for you to be happy brother. I'm sure you won't be short of suitors if worst comes to worst. Catherine added she wanted to ask about some lands that belonged to our father. I saw mother recently she is well and sends her love.

Charles perked up at the mention of their mother and he smiled, and it was a genuine smile "Is that so?" he asked her and he took a deep breath "I was just about to send a letter to her, it does me well to know that she is good."

Catherine was happy to see her brother smile at the mention of their mother. Yes she is very well and has the most loyal ladies in waiting attending her. Their is very little sunlight actually allowed into the nunnery which dulls her spirit. Sometimes she asks about father as if he was still alive. But she is just the same. Catherine wanted to hug her brother right now. She knew deep down that he still cared for their mother.

He looked at her and he raised an eyebrow "Is it not depressing that a Spanish native to not be allowed to see the sun often?" he said to her and he cleared his throat and he tapped the wood of the table "I will personally see to mother being put into a room with windows, with lavish surroundings..hell, I will have a new nunnery built for her if I have too."

Charles halted for a moment and he looked away "It was my decision alone." he said to her honestly and he cleared his throat "I wanted to ensure mother was being looked after." he admitted to her "You have to admit Catherine, she shows signs of ill mental health; I couldn't let something bad happen to her because of that."
