Queen Katherine's Living Room

I collapse back down in my chair and cry...

I make my way to Her Majesty's apartments after my visit to The Cardinal Wolsey- I ask a servant to inform her I am here. I take a deep breath outside as I still feel a little shaken up.

Finally I enter and bow very deeply,"Your Majesty,"I immediately feel at ease in Her Majesty's presence. I glance up and notice she weeps.

"Your Majesty,"I hesitate knowing that it is Her Majesty who should speak first although her heart is so sorely charged and I simply cannot bear to see Her sad. I then promptly stand and slowly walk over. I bow once more as I feel my heart ache to see the good and gracious queen cry,"Your Majesty...what has happened?"

Wiping my tears away, and looking into her innocent face, I say "I fear my cause is over, and it has been lost.."

"My lady, you must not say these things. We are on the side of angels-Your Majesty is the true wife of His Majesty and Queen of England."

I take her hand in mines.

I sigh quietly as a whisper and glance around the quiet room. I tilt my head and the only noise is the crackling fire which we sit beside.

"Your Majesty-I pray every day and the kingdom does too. We beseech you as our Queen to stay strong. This is your birth right and by God's good grace all shall be well. Todo irá bien..."

I look down,"I had to see The Cardinal Your Majesty-he called me to see him. He asked of you..."

Looking up, I see there is something she must tell me. Something new.."My dear, you look worried. What is it that's troubling you?"

"I think The Cardinal...I know the Cardinal has spies in Your Majesty's household. I think he wanted me to be one of them-he asked if anyone from Spain visited you, when and who they were."I whisper.

"Nothing, Your Majesty, I kept my word. He asked if The Cardinal Fisher or anyone of Spanish origin visited Your Majesty. I acted ignorant and claimed I did not know of anyone who visited...I merely told him you had daily visits from Your Majesty's confessor. Forgive if I should not have..."

I glance up and smile a little. If only there was something I could do-if my father was still alive I would be at ease...

I smile a little,"It is the greatest of honours to serve, Your Majesty. I am your humble servant-ready and wiling to do your bidding...no matter what it may be."

I look up as she speaks,"Yes, Your Majesty?"

I nod,"Of course Your Majesty. I will do my duties."

I then smile a little,"Do not fear, Your Majesty for we are on the side of the angels. I know their blessings will shower upon you and you will not fail."

I smile. Proud that I am pleasing Her Majesty-I pray everyday that she will have justice and I believe with all my heart that she will succeed.

"Your Majesty...may I ask you something?"

I look down- a little embarrassed. As I do my golden hair falls from behind my shoulders and frames face. I tuck a lock behind my ear and say softly,"Your Majesty...I fear I will never find love...or marry. Both my brothers are married now and I am not..."

I smile warmly,"Thank you, Your Majesty. I found my heart sorely charged when I awoke this morning and now since talking with Your most gracious Majesty I feel all is well again. All is mended."

I smooth down my skirts and continue,"May I get anything for Your Majesty?"

I nod and stand, I collect the bible from where is lies. I carry it carefully almost like a child sleeping in my arms. I sit on a little stool by Her Majesty's grand chair. My head is just by her hand that rests on the side of the chair. I feel comfort by her- like a daughter and a mother.

I carefully open the bible and pick one of my favourite passages. I decide to try and translate it to Spanish-perhaps it will bring Her Majesty joy,"No dejes que se turbe vuestro corazón la confianza en Dios;. Creed también en mí en casa de mi Padre muchas moradas hay;. Si no fuera, yo os lo hubiera dicho; voy, pues, a preparar lugar para vosotros, y... si me fuere y os preparare lugar, vendré otra vez y os tomaré a estar conmigo que también puede estar donde estoy."

I glance up and smile a little at the gracious and good Queen. I know I perhaps mistranslated some part but at least I did try to please her.
