"As a matter of fact it does. Perhaps it would surprise you to learn that she has no intentions of harming our good and noble King Henry who reigns so spendidly over us,"I then add,"Perhaps it would surprise you further to learn your son is engaging in a perverse affair...with a Duke of Genoa. A man, my lord Boleyn."

I smile a little,"I see our families being allies. We embrace the new faith whole heartedly and wish to be free of the ignorance and darkness of the old religion,"I say persuasively.

"I will offer you my word that I will keep your son's...disgusting desires a secret-in return for you never threatening her grace again. If you agree then we may be allies."

Norfolk sits down and takes a huge sip of his wine, but then Thomas starts to talk and he almost chokes.
Coughing he puts down his goblet on a nearby little table and looks at him with raised eyebrows.

What? What did you write to the king? What is she up too, that woman? he asks upset, wondering what happened while he himself focussed on that physician of Wolsey and worked hard to get one of their greatest rivals out of the way.

He moans, their way to power lies open and now new problems occur!
Thomas tells him about his son and he tightens his jaw, that profligate will ruin all their plans with his idiot behaviour.

I told you before to keep your son in check! So, what does this Earl want? he asks angrily.

Norfolk rubs his chin while listening, for a while he remains silent.

Well, for now we can't get rid of her only because she is a supporter of queen Katherine, of whom there are still too many!... but we have to keep an eye on her. The Plantagenets seem to have accepted their fate and live in peace, but I don't trust them. We will spy on them and one little mistake is enough for us to take action!

He bites his lips while they talk about George.

Your son is engaged, isn't he? And he loves his sister, doesn't he? It should be enough for him to make sure not to cause problems, you must make that clear to him or I will do it, he hates me already but I don't care, he has to cooperate in our plan or his sister will never be Queen of England.

Norfolk picks up his goblet again and turns it in his hand. He doesn't look forward to talk to that young man, who only seems to think about having as much as fun as possible and has no obvious vision.
He shrugs and drinks most of the wine at once.

Tell me more about his... liasons, Thomas. Who is.... are involved? He asks while he stares in his goblet, this is an excellent wine and he drinks the rest of it, stretching his arm to have another one.

Norfolk sniffs.
Duke of Genoa?Never heard of! He blinks his eyes several times. An affair with a man, what is going on in that head of his nephew?

He learns about the Duchess and his eyes spit fire.
He is wittingly thwarting our plans! Does he think we work this hard to let him ruin all? He speaks louder and louder, stands up and paces through the room, shaking his finger to Thomas.

He has to understand what is at stake here! Suddenly he turns around and look curiously at Thomas.

You have not told me yet what this Earl wants from you... I can't believe he came here to tell you this out of his good heart!
