I tried to smile but I knew it looked weak and false. I took a deep breath and walked into the room, still smelling of rosin and pine. "I know we had plans, but what I have to say cannot wait." My hands shook and I stood there looking at him like a scared little girl, which indeed I was. "Henry, I.. I have reason to believe I am.. with child." I said as I looked him in the eyes.

As she walked into the room I gave her a chair. "Please sit" I said looking at her hands that were shaking like a leaf. I stood next to her and as she utter the next few words my heart dropped into my stomach. I leaned over and placed my hands on my knees. "Are you positive?" I said looking at her as my hands began to shake.

I took a sit as directed, because I was not sure my legs were steady enough to keep me standing. Relief flooded me, despite Henry's response of uncertainty. "I have had strong signs of it.. and we have lain together many times.." I felt tears come to my eyes and quickly wiped them away with my sleeve. "I may be young but I am not too young to bear children." I looked up at him. "I know not what I shall do!"

My jaw dropped as I stood there in disbelief. I put my hands on my head thinking about what would happen if this got out. If my wife found out I fathered a bastard child.
I kneeled down and wiped her tears "Don't worry I'll take care of you, we can get through this together."

I smiled as he wiped my tears, and took a deep breath, only glad that he hadn't seen fit to abandon me or blame the child on another man. "I have already promised not to speak with anyone else about this.. I would be made to leave the duchess's protection and left to do.. God knows what. I've got no one." I hated to sound so wretched, but Henry's words actually had a calming effect on me. "I think you are kind to stay by my side, sir."

"Yes, we must keep this as discreet as possible" I say as I placed my hand upon her stomach. I couldn't explain but I was actually happy about this. "Are you taking care of yourself, eating right?"

I nodded, smiling through my tears that were finally beginning to cease. I looked into Henry's eyes and saw that he truly cared, and it warmed my heart. "Yes, I have. I have made sure to only eat the healthiest things, lots of fruit and vegetables from the garden, and warm milk before bed... oh at times I am so frightened, but now I know you will be with me through this.." I played with a strip of lace on my sleeve. "Do you think, perhaps, you could possibly hold any.. feelings for me.. Henry?" I whispered.

Her words eased my mind. I sat next to her and held her in my arms. "My sweet, sweet, Catherine....." I moved some of her blonde tresses away from her face. "How could you ask such a question? Ever since I met you, you have made me fall in love with you more and more each day. And now we are are to produce a child from that love." I said and pulled her lips toward mine and kissed her.

I liked the feeling of him being near to me, and I felt so safe, protected in his arms. Whatever doubts I had about the future seemed to melt away with the tight bond of affection between us. I sighed comfortably. "You truly love me, Henry? No one ever has before.." His lips on mine was like a cool breeze on a hot day, and I felt, for once in my life, lucky and entirely beloved.

I looked at her and moved her hair to her back "i have never felt this way about about any woman before. You make everyday worth living" I said as I kissed her passionately.

I thought my heart would grow wings and soar out of my chest, I felt invincible with Henry's love. I kissed him back, filled with desire for him that only he could arouse in me. I moved closer to him, wanting absolutely no space between us as we kissed, I had to be one with him.

I kept kissing her, desiring her as I hadn't been with her in a few weeks. I kissed her neck to her collarbone as I tried my best to quickly to undress. "Catherine, may I have you one last time?" I asked knowing once her pregnancy grew I would longer be able to have her.

"Yes," I said breathlessly. My breath quickened as he started to undress and with great speed I unlaced my dress and corset, wanting so badly to feel his hands on me. I kissed him deeply, passionately, our tongues mingling as desire shot straight through me and I was moist for him.

I began to kiss her passionately as my hand traveled down to her womanhood feeling her moistness. My breath quickened as my passion for her ignited in me. I kissed every inch of her body and then pulled her on top of me as I entered her.

I gasped, tilting my head back as he entered me. I moved my hips grinding against him as he sank deeper within me. With no words to describe the perfection I felt, I took his face in my hands and kissed him with all the passion I had in me. "Oh God, Henry!" I said in a feverish whisper as tingles went throughout my body.

As I heard my name leave her lips, I returned her kiss and found myself acting like a love hungry man as I bucked into her, cupped her breasts then sucking on her nipple.

I moved my hips against his, creating a friction I could not believe was possible. His mouth on my nipple set my senses buzzing with pleasure. I brought him closer to me, running my fingers through his hair. I felt myself overflowing , wanting more of him than I ever had before.

I smiled as he said those words, audible through the ecstasy I felt from his powerful thrusts. As we slowed I looked into his piercing blue gaze. "And I love you, Henry Manox..." I whispered. I felt myself coming towards the edge, ready to climax soon.

I cried out in sheer pleasure the room echoing my shrill gasps and moans. I dug my nails into his back as I felt his manhood sliding in and out of me. My climax started as a small tingle, then it grew to a wave of euphoria, with nothing left for me to ride it out, clinging to him with every ounce of strength as the pleasure took over me.

I felt him shudder as he climaxed, and was filled with his warmth as he finished. With a lazy smile I lay next to him, my heart still pounding a rhythm just for us. I thought again of our child that I was sure was living inside me at that very moment. I refused to think about what would happen, where I would go to have it, how I would leave the duchess's household. My widowed mother wouldn't take me in again. I had very little connections to other Howards, and though I'd heard much of my cousin Anne who had won the King of England's heart, I felt she would not help me much either.

"Yes this is truly our destiny, and I think I know how we can live to support our child. You can give music lessons to a rich family, someone who doesn't know either of us, and I can do a bit of sewing and embroidery. We can live in a small cozy house, only the two of us, and raise our child to be good and kind and happy." I imagined it like the end scene from a fairy tale that Joan and I often read, the prince and princess living happily ever after. "And perhaps we could even get married," I added shyly.
