Walled Garden

It was relatively early in the morning and I was surprised at the sun which poured so boldly into my room in the morning. Gold and flaxen rays of light danced in my room and whispered for me to join them outside.

Thus I fastened my fur sable around my shoulders and took little Luna for a walk. The little thing was so very loyal already and never strayed far from me. As we both promenaded through the delightful walled gardens I had to giggle as she planted herself among a cluster of plants.

I heard the slurs of someone singing. I scuttle to where Luna is sitting and peer from the bushes discreetly. I noticed a man sauntered down the path-was he drunk? I couldn't help but giggle a little as he got closer.

I laugh a little and stand, realising he had seen me. Upon his kiss on my hand I giggle and retrieve it, bringing it close to my own person-a little embarrassed at the extrovert display,"Sing songs for me? It seems fortunate is shining it's light on me then,"I say lightly and playfully.


I dip a curtsey,"I am Lady Mary Lennox-good day to you, sir."

I tilt my head and smile coyly,"I am new lady for your sister, my lord. Perhaps you may have seen me in her chambers, although amongst her other ladies I would be easy to overlook."

I caught my breath a little at the bluntness of his address. I then shrug simply,"I pale in comparison to the other ladies and your sister of course, my lord."

I take a step back as he touches my chin-is this the fashion in court now, to clutch women's chins? First Jasper and now him. I do not know how to handle this situation-he is my mistresses brother, I do not want to offend him and ultimately cause myself to be scolded by Lady Boleyn.

I glance to Luna and click my fingers. She scampers close to me.

Jasper was walking past the Walled Gardens in the backyard. He glanced in casually and saw Mary there with George Boleyn. He felt a surge of protective instinct pour through him when he saw how close he was to her. He handed his faithful squire his trunk,"I will see you anon. Please get my horse saddled."

He then strolled into the gardens as casually as possible,"Mary."

"I would not say such unkindness to you, my lord,"I mumur however I still take another step back.

I then hear my voice being called and my heart sighs at the thought of someone who knows me, now here. I glance up and see Jasper. I am conflicted by emotions-both of annoyance and others of flattery. Why does he torment me and continue to see me when he dismissed me for his wife? And yet...
And yet I feel myself drawn to him-after all I spent a year learning to love him-however much of a stranger he was then.

I sink into a curtsey,"Your Grace."

"I think we know one another well enough now to dispense with the silliness of curtsies,"he said kindly and finally reached were they stood. He glanced to the ground and saw the little dog he had bought especially for her. He gave her a discreet wink and then turned his look to Boleyn.

"My Lord Boleyn, how are you this evening?"

I sigh a little as he winks and pick up Luna. Why is he doing this? Am I so ignorant to the behaviour in court, I thought I was knowledgable enough to realise when men were flirtatious and I am sure this is that,"If you wish, Your Grace."

I glance to George Boleyn and smile warmly,"I am sure I will see you anon, my Lord Boleyn."

I then scamper from the walled gardens.

He stared at Mary as she left, slightly disappointed that she did not stay-he wanted to let her know he would go visit her father.
Jasper laughed at little at what George Boleyn however was not really listening,"What say you, Lord Rochford?"

He then looked at George Boleyn and knew immediately what his expression meant,"You think she is my mistress?"

Jasper raised is brows,"Alack you speak in riddles then, my lord. I recognised how you looked at Lady Mary-how could any man not? You needn't doubt her virtue though as I see you also do-she is as pure as any princess in Christendom."

"With regards to Jane Bassett...she is my wife."

Jasper chuckled,"Ah, yes you do not know her...but you would like to."

Jasper laughed heartily,"That one is very beautiful indeed, my lord,"Jasper sighed and glanced up,"Pray forgive me, Lord Rochford-I must make haste, I head to Kent today. I bid you good day."

Jasper gave a friendly bow and smile and then hastened out of the gardens.
