Queen Katherine's Bedchamber

Elena hoped that he wouldn't be the bearer of bad news for her majesty.

Katherine smiled at Elena and felt comforted by her presence and loyalty even in this drafty old house where the chills hit her bones hard..Katherine heart felt eased knowing that Sir Thomas would visit and to bring news from court

Elena noticed that the queen was deep in thought so she coughed quitely.

Your majesty where shall I bring Sir Thomas when he arrives.

"I'm so sorry Elena I was watching the flames of the fire dance hoping they would warm me up..When Sir Thomas arrives please show him to my chambers thank you..Elena would you kindly bring me some warm milk?" .Katherine smiled at Elena even though the pains In her chest where stabbing as though they would cut right through her..Katherine also felt exhausted tired beyond anything she had felt before..But she knew she had to cling on and fight some more if she was to go back to court. .

Elena let the room she returned with the queens milk. She absent mindedly placed it on the table as she went over to the queen.

Your majesty are you ok? Sir Thomas is just waiting outside the door.

"Thank you Elena, please show sir Thomas in.." Katherine eyes lit up knowing sir Thomas was here, her heart feeling hope at possible news of the king and of court and of course her beloved daughter....

Katherine smiled as Sir Thomas entered her chambers and reached her hand towards him giving a sign that he was most welcome visitor indeed...

Thomas walked in the room with slow steps. He smiled weakly at lady Elena. The Queen was sitting there, waiting for him. He bowed deeply and kissed softly her hand

My Gracious Majesty..

He whispered with devotion and deep loyalty in his voice

Katherine smiled at Sir Thomas and gestured for him to sit opposite her by the fire.. "Forgive me, Sir Thomas. I am having some difficulty with the cold in this house...Please tell me everything...how are you? How is His Majesty? What news of court do you bring?" Katherine blushed slightly. "Oh sir Thomas, I am sorry for throwing questions at you..but it has been such a long time since I had any news. No one visits me anymore...my household has been reduced..and no one writes me. It can be..very lonely at times.." Katherine voice was a whisper as she spoke looking into the flames blinking back tears and swallowing deeply to regain  her composure. She sat upright and smiled at Sir Thomas awaiting his reply.

Thomas bowed his head again. He could feel the sorrow in Katherine's voice and he felt bad for this. But he took a breath and tried to smile

Your Majesty..I don't know if you're aware of the fact that I'm not Chancellor anymore. I decided to resign. Because I can't agree with King's behaviour towards you..and I can't act against my conscience. In my eyes..and in God's eyes, you're his true wife, and the true Queen of England. No one can change this truth, my Queen. I..I'll retire myself to private life, and I'll spend my days praying for your cause. You're not alone, my sweet Lady. You still have many supporters at court..

He said vehemently looking at her

Katherine was surprised at Sir Thomas resigning from his post at court..yet knew the depth of his loyalty to both his self and her..."Sir Thomas, I truly believe that ..That. ..Boleyn girl has poisened his mind and bewitched him for her and her family's ambition. ..yet I know deep down His Majesty's heart. He loves me and knows I am his true wife and Queen...Thank you for your loyalty, Sir Thomas. It warms my heart ..Please tell me what grieves you? I see it etched upon your face. What is troubling you?" Katherine felt there was more than what Sir Thomas was telling her. When she looked at his face although still handsome he had aged a little. Life at court had taken its toll on him and Katherine genuinely wanted to help ease any burdens that may be troubling him.

Thomas smiled weakly

My Queen...I'm touched by your concern. It's so noble of you carying for other's issues. But nothing troubles me. I'm just a bit sad for leaving court after so long time. In spite of everything, I still love His Majesty the King, your true husband..

He took a breath and smiled again

So don't worry about me, Your Majesty. I'll be fine. Rather..think more about yourself. Ambassadors Chapuys and Mendoza are working for your cause. And for your sister Joanna's too. Moreover, His Holiness the Pope is at our side..

Sitting by the fire Katherine called to her ladies, she wanted to know if anyone had word on her daughter Mary.

Bess entered Kimbolton Castle to see Queen Katherine and to bring news about Princess Mary.
She knocked st the door.

" Lady Elena " Katherine whispered " please show in Elizabeth, and please sit with us " Elena was my most trusted friend.

Bess smiled and she entered the room after Lady Elena. She looked at Queen Katherine. She was still so beautiful. Bess curtsied deeply

The young Queen stood there, although she was much younger then the Queen of England herself she was wise beyond her years, looking into the queen her cousin's eyes she nodded and took a seat beside her, her husband had some so as well and Rosalina looked at the Queen and nodded "if it pleases your majesty, some wine for yourself and I together" she spoken and sat within her chair

The fire warmed her white well as she removed from her the cloak which kept her warm but she was so warm already, looking at the Queen of England she sat there after "I pray your majesty is doing well, that your well cared for within these walls" she spoke concerned, the young archduchess and queen was a huge support for her family in Spain and she would support her cousin the Queen of England of course as well, her hat upon her head had been removed and is placed upon her lap as she wore her pearled hair covering upon her head while her hair was braided around the edges on the top of her head as well, sitting there she sat beside her husband's side.

Philip ArchDuke of Austria and Duke of Burgundy let his wife the Queen of Castro go ahead of him to visit Queen Katherine as Philip went to have some brief talks with King Henry and Sir Thomas More. They discussed cementing their alliances further with additional trade and exchange of troops if they were required and the discussions were fruitful. With a bow to the King Philip made his retreat and headed to see his wife and the Queen. Upon being announced by Lady Elizabeth he walked in and bowed to Queen Katherine, 'Your Majesty, it is an honour to see you once more, I hope you are well and the Princess Mary is in good health,' Philip turned to his wife and kissed her hand and they were both seated with the Queen.

I nodded and turned to Lady Elizabeth. Please fetch us some wine and can you see what food we have in our larder lady Elizabeth.
As I sat I looked my cousin and I could see she was concerened for my wellbeing, I reached over and touched her hand. Please do not worry I am well looked after and my lord watches over me.
Lady Elizabeth returned with the wine and some bread and fruit and as she entered she also announced King Philip, I rose to my feet and bowed my head to the king and held out my hand to him. Welcome to my home Philip you and your wife are most welcome here, please come and sit and warm yourself near the fire.I sat and took a goblet of wine and I took a small sip from the goblet.
I am well but alas I have no news of my daugter Mary, I wish to hear of how she is but the king does not allow anyone close to her to visit me.
