Thomas, after his brief interview with the physician Agostino, look for Cromwell, learning from a servent, that he is in the study room with the King, he pace along corridor until the door and wait for him leaving the room.

He passed Master Kingston as he walked to the king's study, and he had a sudden pang of guilt as he thought of Wolsey, languishing in the tower. Shrugging off those feelings so he could concentrate on the task ahead, he entered the study and bowed.

He strode out of the room to attend other duties when he passed Thomas More, and gave a tight smile, knowing this man stood in his way of achieving certain goals for the Reformation.

Thomas listened him carefully. He hated hearing people talking bad about Church. But he couldn't share his feelings with Henry. He just nodded

Your Majesty...you know very well that I always condamned clergy's abuses, when they have been discovered. As your advisor, I worked to remove them and to purify our Holy Church...

You know my opinion. You always knew it. I can't not to condamn this modern vision of private beliefs and personal grace. For me the Church is the permanent and eternal sign of God's presence. It's a visible, palpable community. Not only some brothers joined in secret rooms...
