Mahidevran's Bedroom

Mahidevran held out her arms ready to receive her son. She was tired very tired but she had yet to see her child.

Mahidevran relaxed into the bed as she graciously took her son into her arms.

I am very happy Suleyman very happy.

For a brief moment she wondered what it would be like to have a daughter just as Suleyman did. She could never replace Nuriye's mother but she needed to be felt wanted.

With your permission, I wish to treat Nuriye as my own.

Mahidevran smiled graciously as Suleyman kissed her hand. She sat up in bed regally like the queen she was. Her long, brown hair let down from it's braid curved around her bossom.

It must be a big change for her beloved. I am sure she loves you just let her find her feet.

Mahidevran looked down at her newborn son yawning. Ever grateful to have a second heir for Suleyman.

What shall we name him Suleyman.

She was so happy that she could feel it radiate throughout her body. Her most happiest memory was when she had met her Sultan. Love of her life, father to her now two sons.

Mahidevran found this rather overwhelming. In her mind she counted her blessings for such a gift. A second son, would strengthen the sucession of heirs, for Sülelyman.

I find myself externally gratified. I wish others to feel this happiness that I feel for our little family.

Mahidevran was happy she was... Just a crack of darkness started to seep in. She couldn't put her finger on it but Mustafa Her Mustafa. Well, she felt more bound to him than this child.

Süleyman, you have three children now. How do you find that your heart expands for them all.

Mahidevran said softly as her fingers loving stroked Ahmed baby hair. She had never truly felt loved by Süleyman, all her love went into her children. She felt more like part of the scenery a pretty rose to be brought out on special occasions.

Mustafa loves you and this one will too. Nuriye is older and has had more of a tougher upbringing some would say. But I don't think our children shall fight for the throne.

A chilling sensation went through her body when Mahidevran thought about her sons future. Why would they fight for the throne if they all had their allocated places to serve as the rightful, lawful heirs of the Ottoman dynasty.

They will follow your guidance Hunkarim, they will not fight as they our brothers of the same blood.

Mahidevran gritted her teeth she made a silent vow to make sure that none of her children would be turned against each other.

If only she didn't have to worry about how her sons would grow up. When they were both older they would spread their wings and find out exactly who they were as men and how important their roles in the empire would be.

As long as they are both healthy and live each other as brother's should. Then I shall be a very proud mother of my two sons.

How is the Valide and all of your sisters.

Mahidevran knew that they all were back at palace now. She couldn't wait to see them and for the to meet the newest arrival. Maybe it was time for Ibrahim to come back.

Sitting in her chambers Mahidevran begins brushing out the veil of long raven black hair that is her pride. The sound of Suleyman's voice stops Mahidevran in her tracks. All at once she rushes to lush with excitement at this sudden visit.

Taking his hand she leads him to her divan. A chance for them to talk and reminisce

It had been a long time, and while they did have quick conversations here and there, this felt different.

"Yes Ahmed is so much different to Mustafa. I guess I should not compare them to each other. It's not fair to do that to siblings."

Mahidevran could not even contemplate her life without Suleyman. He nourished her which made Mahidevran flourish to grow as a mother. From the moment she met Suleyman. Reaching for him, wrapping her arms around his waist and placed her lips near his.

"I could not imagine a world without you!"

She then rested her head against his broad chest.

"I shall guide our sons to the best of my ability. I will make you proud to carry the name Valide"

Dilara wanted to talk with Mahidevran Sultan. She knew that the new slave, Hurrem, was going to be Sultan's new favourite. The guards knocked and she waited to be allowed to come in. One of the guards told her that the Sultan himself was inside with her. The guard entered to announce

"Dilara Hatun is here to see you, Sultanim.."

Mahidevran was exhausted from listening to all the concubines gossip. She couldn’t wait for night to come so she could take off all her jewels. Something cut her around her heart. It felt empty. Everyone knew about the new hatun who came from Russia. Mahidevran knew that Suleyman wouldn’t be coming to her tonight. Every time someone walked past her chambers, she always thought it was him.

She was feeling disappointed and sadness inside because, he didn’t come to her like he used to. She stayed awake longer than she was used to, hoping he come to her no matter how late. But he didn’t come. Mahidevran sat by the window and opened it. The wind was blowing hard, she could feel the Bosphorus waves banging against the palace. Grey clouds greeted her from the sky.
