François's face beam and his glance get dreamy in hearing her words as he imagine two little ones brownhaired, the girl wearing a white dreass and the boy a red velvet outfit, both barefeet, running in the warm sand of the beach of a unknow tropical isle, playing together near to a large boat, he smile.

I do wish so too, I imagine easely us as child playing together, on some beach, explorating a unknow isle.

François is so charmed and touched by her compliment, that he remain silent for a while, smiling, then he answer.

Oh you are adorable, my child, I am very happy to hear that, I must tell that it's reciprocal, I like you very much too and I am surprised that you are kind and interesting also and I do wish to please you.

He smile broadly.

Of course, it is, I would had never refuse to give you something to eat. I am happy and honoured to can have lunch with you.

He open the door, call a servent and command him a fine and complete lunch for two persons, the boy and go downstair fastly as he close the door and turn to Coralie.

The lunch is commanded ! it's should be served soon.

Two servents enter the room and lay the table, then others ones enter progressively, carrying drinks, bread, fruits, cheese, desserts and delicacies that they install on the table carefully, François watch at it, then he turn again to Coralie.

I think that we can join table now, if it's please you.

He offer her his arm gallantly.

"Ohhh, I think I should love that," Coralie threw her head back and laughed. "Oh, the adventures we would have."

"Oh, monseiur majesty," Coralie shook her head, "as a subject I feel it is I who must please you, but I should do with great happiness, knowing of our friendship," she smiled.

Coralie's eyes grew wide as she watched his majesty call for lunch to be brought, and she smiled in disbelief at the display of servants, brringing forth a table and such elaborate looking foods and desserts. She gave a slight sigh, not believing all that was happening, and felt as though she were in a fairytale.

"Oh, your majesty I like that very much," Coralie beamed. She rose to her feet, careful not to step on her gown, and she took his arm, feeling her cheeks grow warm as she blushed. She could not help but feel a slight chill run through her body as her arm came into contact with his, and she took a deep breath to calm herself.

François join her laugh, feeling chearful and light , all his worring have evaporate of his mind.

Of course, as my subject, I awaite from you to please me and I must tell that I am pleased about you, but since I like you, I do would like to please you in return , mademoiselle.

Glancing at her, François smile in seeing the air her face, it's obvious that she never seen such fine table and meals and that all that seem irreal to her, he feel touched by the purity and innocence of her glance on all theses little things of court life that she have never seen and discover with wonder,.

I am glad that it's please you and to have this lunch with you.

He feel her soft hand little, thin and delicate like a child's hand taking in arm, causing a tiny shiver crossing his back and a emotion deep in him that he don't understand, he escort her to the table and he glance to her, there is a strange air on her face, he can't determlnate the cause of it.

Troubled, he turn his glance to the table, smiling in looking this fine food before them, then he sat one of the two chairs, turn to Coralie again and gesture to the free chair.

Please, take place, mademoiselle and enjoy the lunch.

He smile to her, the door open and three servents enter each carrying a fine meal that they put on the table, François make sign to them that they can go, he feel like rather staying in this soft intimacy that he is having with her and don't want it for being broken.

"Your majesty has already been too kind to me," Coralie shook her head, smiling.

Coralie spread the light blue fabric of her gown to her sides as she took a seat in the chair, looking about the table of food. Her eyes came across the king, again, and she looked down, feeling a blush cross her face, again.

Remember what mother said, she thought to herself. Reach only after his majesty has, speak without food in the mouth, place the napkin on the lap, yet do not eat too much as it shall make me appear gluttonous and shall hurt the stomach and strech the stays I wear. Coralie nodded thinking to herself, back straight, elbows off the table, and remaind dainty and the perfect lady.

Coralie straightened her back and placed a napkin upon her lap, though she began to fiddle with it somewhat and slowly found herself slouching. She placed her hands at her sides and straightened up again, giving a smile as she awaited his majesty's move and permission.

[b]François's eyes cross Coralie's and he smile slighty in seeing her blushing and looking down, imagining easely that it must be impressive for her to have a private lunch with him and he feel happy to make her this unusal favour.
Observing her, he can see that she is controlling her gestures for make sure to behave properly and keep her good manners, following her gestures, he take his napking too and place it on his laps, then, seeing that she wait politely for him starting the lunch, he smile warmly and tell her.

We can began, mademoiselle, I know that you are starving and myself, I am getting hungry in seeing all this good food on the table .

He fill his goblet with fresh water, then extend the bottle to her.

This water is one of most pures ones that is possible to find, it's come directly from a perfectly pure source in the countryside, so it's can de drink without risks at the contrary of most of waters.

He then serve himself in bread, delicacies and meals and tell her.

Don't hesitate to serve yourself and eat as much as you want, mademoiselle, it will make me pleasure.

Coralie gave a smile, glad that his majesty gave her permission, “it all certainly looks good, monsieur majesty,” she laughed.

Coralie took the bottle and poured into her own goblet, bringing it to her lips to taste it, as it was the first drop of water she had had since she had left her manor in the country.

“I am glad that you have such pure water in your storage here,” Coralie smiled, “I was a bit taken aback when the other ladies told me not to drink the water, that we were to drink only wine and hypocras.”
Coralie smiled at his majesties words and gave a nod, feeling happy that his majesty has allowed her to lunch with him. She glanced about the table and found a bowl filled with what appeared to be Pates de Fruits, as well as another beside it with Sugared Mirabelle plums, cut in little halves for convenience.
She gave a large smile and reached for one of the Mirabelle plums, placing it to her lips to bite the sweet, sugared plum half and she felt happy that the plums she often had at home were also on his majesty’s table. She licked the sugar from her lips and placed the rest of the plum half on her plate, as well as a few Pates de Fruits, and she looked beside her seat at the table to find a plate of Confit de Canard, and another of Coq au Vin and found herself smiling as she reached for the Confit.

“Does your majesty always lunch like this?” she placed the duck on her plate.

Indeed, it's smell so good that it make me salivate !

He nodd, smiling.

It's a big problem to find drinkable water, most of castles can count only on wells water and wells water is allright for cooking and for washing, but I wouldn't take the risk to drink it and I advice you to don't either.

He lift his goblet to his mouth and take a sip of fresh water, then countinue.

It's why most of people drink wine, even children, and here, you can find mostly wine indeed, of various sorts, hypocras is one of the most populars, but there is also beer, eau de vie, cider, apple and grapp juice, more rarely milk and, fortunately, we have also this pure source water, which is the most refreshing drink at my taste. When I am really thirsty, there is nothing of better for me !

Observing her with soft eyes while eating some of the food in his plate, he grin in seeing her taking some Mirabelle plums and pates de fruits, a smile on her lips and her eyes shining like a little girl before a gâteau, he tell her with a teasing tone.

I can see that you have a sweet tooth !

He smile after in hearing her question.

Yes, everyday. You know, it isn't only for pleasure, as a king, I must have got fine food and fluxious meals at my table, it's a matter of prestige, notably when I recieve important foreign guests, it's a way for show France's glory. And this lunch is modest in comparaison with the diners or feasts that I can have for special occasions.

He eat some of his food and drink, then add.

But I hadn't a precise place for have lunch, it can be in the diningroom, in my bedroom, in my office or even outdoor at summer ...

Coralie smiled, "you make me wish I had a secret source for drinking," she laughed.

Coralie blushed, placing a piece of plum in her mouth again, "I have always liked sweet things, ever since I was child." She gave a laugh, "my papa used to jest, that perhaps all the candies I eat has taken to my heart and head."

"Oh, but your majesty already shows such splendor," Coralie beamed. "From the extravagance of your dress and the beauty of every room and garden of the palace." She gave a laugh, "yet, I think I should love to lunch like this everyday if I could, it is all so lovely."

She placed a hand to her heart, "oh, my brothers and I used to have lunch outside all the time," she smiled. "There was a hidden place in the woods, where the green trees overed a flowing brook of clear water, surrounded by fruit trees," she smiled at the memory, "we would bring a blanket and our food and eat out there."

I must admit that I do like that very much, it's very pleasant and practical to can have lunch everywhere I am.

He listen attentively as she describe him the woods near to her home where she had lunchs with her brother, the place sound enchanting, he smile to her, the air a bit dreamy.

It's sound like wonderful and enchanting place and way of life.

Then he ask her curiously

Tell me more about your siblings, how many brothers do have you got ? do you have a sister too ?

Corale laughed and blushed, "thank you Monsieur Majeste."

"The splendor is everywhere, majesty," she smiled, "and no wonder you lunch wherever you can, with so much beauty around."

"It was rather wonderful," she smiled, remembering.

Coralie's face went a little grave, and she looked down at the food on her plate. "No," she shook her head, "I am the only girl." She played with her fingers, "there is my eldest brother, Pierpont...he is perhaps somewhere in the city, at one of the universities, or at his military training." She looked up, "then there is Chevalier who studying to be a priest...and," she stopped suddenly. She blinked away tears, keeping her head down so his majesty would not see any tears.

"I had another brother, also elder," she stopped, "his name was Gaston...yet...he drowned when I was young."

François eat some of his food, then he look at her with attention as he see her air getting grave and her eyes lowering after his question about her siblings, he guess that it's a dolourous topic for her.

I guess that it musn't be easy to be the only girl and to have see your brothers leave the family's home early for build their own life.

Seeing her interrupting, he can feel the pain in her, his face take a saddened air as she evocate her elder brother who passed away.

I am really sorry for your lost, I guess it has been a drama for all the family and is still, especially since I guess that he was only a little boy at the time since he drowned.

He can't see her face as she keep her head low, but he can see her back shaking slighty and her the sobs that she try to countain, moved and touched to see her unhappy.
He open his fingers and let fall his cutlery in his plate and his other hand release his goblet turn to her, who is sat by his side, take her chin very gently between his thum and his index and lift it delicately, seeing the tears on her face.

Oh mademoiselle, there isn't shame to cry, it's very normal and I can understand your pain ... myself I had terrible losts in my life, especially one that will haunt me until my last breath.

He take a little piece of cloth and wipe the tears off her face and eyes softly, in a stroking gesture.

Coralie gave a faint smile through the tears that developed in her eyes. "I often think that is why my mother dislikes me so...it was my fault, he drowned trying to save me," she shook her head.

She nodded, "yes, I was perhaps five and he was ten."

Coralie felt the kings hand cup her chin and she let a few tears escape as her held her chin up. She tried to keep from crying yet more tears escaped and her eyes burned as she tried to sniff them away. Though she felt great sadness, she could not help but feel another chill as he wiped her tears away.

Coralie pulled away and shook her head, wiping her eyes. "No, majesty," she wiped the tears away, "I'm sorry, I should not have mentioned any of this...it is not appropriate for table conversation." She thought of her mother who would be apalled at such a sight.

François feel sorry for her as he imagine the weight of guiltiness that she had to wear since then, especially if her mother have make her feel that she did estimate her to be responsable of this lost.

My god, I am really sorry for you, I understand how bad you must feel about it seen the circomstances of his death, especially if you mother have make you feel that she take you for responsable of this death.

He sigh after hearing the young age she had at the time, he release her chin and look deep in her eyes and continue.

But you musn't feel guilty, you was just an innocent little girl, it wasn't your fault, if someone should hold responsable, it was the adult that was supposed to watch at your and your brother. And if you are right, then I find your mother's attitude horrible, she should yet be happy that in this terrible accident, her girl had survive, she could have lost both of you and him.

He put a hand on her shoulder and add.

And about your brother, since he have death as hero, rescuying his little sister and seen the age he had, I am sure that he is now a angel heaven, more happy than he ever has been.

He feel saddened and compassionate to see her that much sad, trying desperently to countain it, he shake his head.

No, you are wrong, it's appropriate since we aren't in a formal and public situation, it's just a simple private lunch, so you can be open. And I understand that you need to talk about it, sometimes, after having bear much pain while a too long time, you just need to get it out and must to do so and most of the time, you feel better afterward.

Coralie sniffed and gave a nod, looking his majesty in the eye. "I suppose so...and I know he is in Heaven, he was such a sweet boy."
Coralie gave a faint smile and wiped her eyes, her sniffles ceasing as she looked him in the eyes again. Though she was upset, she could not help but smile at the kindness the king showed her, and she could not believe how close he was to her, though though they had only spoken for a while, yet she felt as though he were a friend she had been missing through her life.

"Thank you, monsieur majeste," she shook her head and wiped her nose, "you are too kind to me."

I am very glad that he have rescue you, or either, you wouldn't had grow up for become such a pretty and kind girl and we would never had encounter., then he remain silent while observing her, feeling happy in her compagny like he rarely did before in spite of the gravity of the discussion that they were having, feeling close of her as if he knowed her since a very long time in spite of the recentness of their relationship, he smile after her thanking.

Coralie sniffed and wiped her eyes and nodded, "you are too kind, monsieur majesty," she gave a faint smile.

"I am fond of our conversations too," she smiled.

Coralie looked him in the eyes again, and felt her cheeks tingle with warmth at the sight of his handsome face. She could not help feel the urge to hug him, yet she knew she should not, and instead she looked at the sweets on her plate. She reached for a sugared almond and placed it in her mouth.

"Please, I am so sorry," Coralie gave a nervous laugh, "we should talk of sad things...we should enjoy this lovely lunch and each others conversation," she blushed.

Yes, I do have a elder sister, Marguerite, the queen of Navarre, she is married to Henri III d'Albret, the king of Navarre, she do have a girl, Jeanne, my only niece. She has been married in first to le duc D'Alençon, Charles IV, he is death.

He sigh in recalling of this man, pitying his sister for has been married to such a dull and ugly man while she was just 17 and for so many years.

It wasn't a big lost for her, she has been married to him for nearly twenty years and never liked this man, with whom she hadn't got any child, I must tell that I never liked the man ever.

He smile, reflecting and add.

I also have three sisters from my father's liaisons. Jeanne d'Orléans, the countess of Bar-sur-seine, who is married to the sieur of Givry, she has been legitimated by my father-in-law and predecessor Louis XII, and the abbess Madeleine de Polignac, they both are Jeanne de Polignac's daughters. There is also Souveraine, Jeanne Le Conte's daughter my father have legitimate her by letters, she is married to my panetier, le seigneur de Chagny.

I am lucky to have got only sisters and not any brother of whom I would surely has been jealous, I like so much to be surrounded by women !

Coralie gave a little laugh at the king's admission of hatred.

"It must be difficult seeing your dear sister married off and gone to another country," she nodded, "having to be seperated from the one person you grew up with and had blood connection with."

Coralie blushed at his majesty's mention of his father's other children by mistresses.

Coralie felt her heart sink a little at his confession of his love of being surrounded by women. She had a sudden fear that she may never be one of these women he cared to be around. She feared he would see her only as a pretty little girl who entertains him. She knew he meant his sister's, but she also knew he perhaps spoke of other women. Lovers perhaps.

She gave a faint laugh, "yes, I am certain you and a brother would have been the ultimate rivals," she looked down at her plate.

François's face get a grave air as he recall of the pain he felt when his sister had to leave for marry.

Yes, it has been very hard, I love my sister very much, her and me had always had a bond together, as child, we did spend much time together, playing to the same games, we was united in happy moments as well as in bad events. In more, she was only 17 when she had to leave for marry this dull man.

He take a sip of his goblet, eat some of his cake and continue.

Fortunately, the link between us had never been really broken and while this annus horriblis 1525, she has been very present for support me, she have stay at court for a long time and helped me as much as she was able to. She had to leave again for marry the king of Navarre shortly afterward, but we remain in contact.

François's smile and impish air disappear as he see her blushing, the air nearly upset, he look in her eyes with concern, feeling guilty to have talk openly about his father's liaisons and about his love to be surronded by women, he feel so comfortable in her compagny that he have forget about her age and innocence.

Coralie's eyes grews wide and she shook her head, "I'm very sorry, majesty...I cannot imagine being so seperated from a sibling..." She gave a faint smile, "I suppose I can...it is difficult to lose such a close friend."

She nodded, "it is very good you are in contact...it is good to always have someone from your past to speak to."

Coralie shook her head at his apology. "No, majesty, it is I who am sorry." She forced a smile, "your majesty may speak of whatever you wish and I, of course, must learn that I am no longer a child and shall perhaps hear of such things."

She gave a laugh, "I am no longer in the country."

She lifted a Pate de Fruits to her lips and bit into it, pulling the sticky sweet away from her as sugar coated her lips. She could not help but giggle as she licked the sugar from her lips and fingers.

Yes, indeed, it's so good to have someone in your life in whom you can count on when you need it, even in worse moments, who is always there for you and to whom you can confide freely, Margaret is this person in my life, she is loving, loyal and sincere, she is really a good sister and very precious to me.

There isn't shame to have to ingorate certain things, you are very young still and not a adult yet and you have grow up in the countryside, so you have much things to discover and learn while your stay here.

Coralie smiled, "you make me wish I had a sister."

She nodded, though she still believed that she must grow up. She knew her mother had chastised her multiple times, telling her not to look so childish and "dewy-eyed" she called it. She even recalled her mother demonstrating how Coralie should put on rogues and lip paints for balls and special occasions.

"I still feel I have some growing up to do," Coralie gave a faint laugh. Her eyes grew wide as she looked into his, "yet, I know that your majesty wishes to keep me safe, along with my reputation...and so I shall follow as your majesty wishes."

As Coralie took a second bite into the Pate de Fruits, she noticed his majesty staring, and she could not help but feel slightly embarassed, giving a laugh as she placed the sweet back onto the plate. "Pardon, monsieur majeste," she blushed, looking down.

He chuckle after her apologize, seeing her blushing and putting her sweet back in her plate as she notice that he stare at her.

He select a strawberry pate de fruit, eat it, lick his lips and fingers like she did, smile broadly and add.
