King's Reception Room

Katherine Elizabeth looked over at her papa and aunt from time to time.

William knocked at the door. He entered and bowed "Your Majesty, we will prepare your reception room for christmas event. If you allow us.." He bowed again

Standing, I smile at Henry and kiss his cheek. "Of course darling!...I hope Lady Anne and I can friends, all I want is for you to be happy."

Runs up to her papa.

"Papa?"

She said pulling on her papa leg.

"Yes papa."


She said looking down sad.

A servant opens the door, approaches , bow to the king and says : " Your Majesty , your...fool ... Master Will Somers askes for audience, Shall I tell him to come in ? "


The servant waits for the king's order

Will noticed the king's reaction and this didn't astonished him. He always thought that if each of his visits annoyed the king , it's only because he was the only subject who dares tell him the TRUTH ! Not the disguised one ! The real truth, which hurts and bothers.
Will came in and once arrived in a sufficient distance , bowed at the King. With a little smirk, he said : " You're majesty. You see me sad because you do not longer visit me or ask for my presence. I regret the privilege of your presence and feel quite frustrated. I love our "philosophical" conversations about Religion, God and this gorilla , which everyone call... "The Pope" !
Anyway, with such hypocrisy around you , I thought you would like to speak with me about some issues which bother you and... maybe I could enlighten you with my clear and personal opinion... without any pretention of course. I do not think that you're not able to think by yourself... But like everyone, sometimes , you might need to ... confess yourself without being... duped.. like some people do... people in your closest entourage ..." His eyed scanned the room , freshly decorated with The king's parents portraits.

Will remained thoughtful during a while.

"Hmmm... I do not think that tyranny could make your reign efficacious and memorable... executing people won't resolve your problems of supremacy. I mean, you have to bring sturdy proofs to your people to make them understand, the utility of this "divorce" from the Church of Rome. Since you've decided to break your marriage with Queen Catherine of Aragon and to replace her with The Marquess Anne Boleyn, I think that people consider that all your projects are the results of a whim, of a vulgar "love affair" and nothing else. They have to understand the political dimension. Make them understand that you're acting like a father who wants his children safe and then it is not a simple rebellion. So many , many lives lost but for what ?

Ask their comprehension. Not just an oath , taken on fear of death...
And , as you will working with your brain, your intelligence, you will definitely stand out from this crappy Vicar, who thinks only with his candles and with strumpets in his Bed"

Will giggles

"Forgive me my lord , But you're ready to receive love from subjects which are "Forced" to love a prince who rules over his country with methods which are close to "tyranny" ? What is the most important ? To be loved by your future wife which will share you bed and others little things or by your people who accept to be submitted and cheer you up not because you are the King but because you treat them well ? I mean ... The love of a wife is also uncertain that the weather... But a whole country is ready to follow his prince even in death, when they fight for him... They sacrifice themselves for  your comfort, your pride , your victory .. isn't the ultimate proof of love and respect that matters thousand times more that a love of a woman ? There are woman every where in the whole world but what about a faithful people like the English ?..."

Will sighed, thoughtful

Henry rubbed his chin hearing him talking. He smiled ironically

Uhm..so, you suggest to choose english people's love...rather than my future wife's love. And who told you that I can't have them both, one day? You know, fool...how much people are tied to old traditions. They can't accept new things. But when this country will be fully changed, they will thank me. And I shall be remembered in history for that. My name will be remembered among centuries..

Will remained silent. Not because he had no more to say. But because he was realizing how determined his prince is. Absolutely nothing could resonate him. He saw like a flash of Anger, Of power in his eyes that he has never seen before. But What is the Worse ? That Our king is growing strong and soon, he will be uncontrollable ; Or that his counselors and wife know this they don't seem to be troubled and worried and they do nothing ! The king's thirst of power is undeniable and even legitimate. But Will feels that King Henry is ready to spread all the blood , necessary to his victory. This isn't a reign. This is oppression.

" Your Majesty. yes, you're right, love will come. But after a lot of tears, you'll see. Remember what you lived with your mother, God rest Her Soul. During the rebellion. You were so scared and so furious to see that people react against theirs princes because they were fed up of violence and disorder. Do you really to live this dark time again ? I'm sure that with all the changes that you've made and decisions that you've taken, you will be remembered in history as a Great Monarch. But each loss, massacre, murder, execution will taint your royal legend... Not that I'm really against violence ( There are some idiots that I want to see head cut-off   ) But , I'm for  an intelligent country in which people live with smart ideas, freedom of religion conscience and submission to their prince. That's Why , I proposed to your majesty, to explain and show your opinion with intelligent ways and to not make of violence and oppression, the first way of communication. "

I sighted of relief.

" Oh, Your Majesty, you proved me right now that, finally, you are a prince full of goodness and cleverness. Since you've fixed this ... "matter" What Will happen of The Lady Mary ? Your legitimate elder child ? English People love her so much and wonder about her fate..."

I look away, expecting his reaction...

I make my way down the corridor towards my brothers reception chamber. The journey from Navarre had been long and difficult, filled with grief and strife but I had refused to stop. I refused to speak to anyone but my dearest brother Henry. Dressed in black, as I am, my Navarrese ladies follow behind me. The wet nurse carries my daughter among them as my escort of women and I reach the doors.
The steward looks to me and bows his head. "I request an audience with his Majesty, my Lord."
Bowing his head in respect, the steward departs my presence and enters the chamber. I can hear everything from outside the door as he approaches my brother and states; "Her Majesty, your sister, the Queen of Navarre asks your Majesty to permit her the honour of an audience."
