Edward Craven's Bedroom

After she left her son to Margaret to take care , she left her room. She just wanted to see Edward. She still had pain but she didn't care. She was thinking that Edward was still sleeping , that's why she didn't knock the door. She just opened it and came into bedroom. She saw her husband was sleeping. She smiled and went in bed near him slowly. Then she hugged Edward with smiling.

Edward returned to his chamber and flung his cloak and waist coat onto the stool by his bed-with another quick movement he tugged off his fine leather boots and with a final movement he landed onto his bed. His luggage had been delivered from his trip and it was piled up neatly on the other side of his room.

He closed his eyes and fell into a deep sleep as he had not rested for about two days...

After some hours he felt arms wrapping around his body-he opened his eyes slowly and saw Alfonsina. He sighed contentedly and kissed her warmly as he embraced her.

She hugged him tightly and whispered.

"I miss you so much , Edward.. And I am so sorry that i was a total bitch when you came back. I was just angry. I thought you had left me. I was alone and desperate. And you are wrong. I wrote you. I wrote you for a million times."

Edward smiled sleepily and sighed heavily,"I am home now and I will never leave you. You have my heart until my last breath and even in death our love shall live through our son."

He kissed her again and touched softly her cheek,"I have a gift for you-do you want to see it?"

She smiled and kissed him.

"You are the most handsome sleepy husband in the world."

Then she giggled. After Edward's words , she straightened up in the bed and nodded.

"Of course , love.."

She smiled tenderly.

Edward laughed softly and cupped her face gently in his hands,"And you wife are the most entirely beloved..."

He then climbed from the bed and retrieved a small bow from his luggage-carefully he opened the lid and presented the contents to Alfonsina,"I hope you like it..."

When she saw the gift , she opened her eyes wider and wider. She smiled and hugged her husband tightly.

"Edward! I love it! This is so beautiful. Thank you very much!"

She kissed his cheeks , his nose and his warm lips.

Edward laughed happily and slid the ring on her finger,"Consider it a renewal of my vows,"he whispered as he placed his lips on hers.

"Your renewal of your wows is priceless , husband.. And you have aldready showed it when you helped me to give birth."

She smiled while she was kissing his lips.

Edward smiled and kissed her back. He felt a sharp pang in his belly but tried to ignore it-but the second was worse he sat up with a start.

"What happened?"

She asked immedieately.

Edward smiled weakly as he could feel his head begin to spin,"I...I do not know,"he whispered-his voice now raspy.

He lay back onto the bed and took Alfonsina's hand.

She was afraid. She couldn't know what to do.

"Just lay on bed. I will call a nurse , love.."

Her voice was weak. She left the room to find a nurse. She went to infirmary but she didn't find anybody. She screamed. "Can anybody help? Is there anyone?" If someone can hear me , please come to Edward Craven's room immediately." She didn't know what she was doing. She just hoped someone had heard her. She came back to room. She saw Edward was laying.

"How do you feel?"

Edward nodded and shut his eyes as beads of sweat began to form on his forehead. He panted and rolled about restlessly on the bed until Alfonsina came back.

"I think I need...some....rest,"he breathed,"I beg you...stay with our son...I will send you note of how...I am...but I do not wish you to be...to be sick. I love you."

She was so afraid that she was shaking. Also , she was cursing inside herself to infirmary. She took Edward's hand and she put her other hand to his forehead. Then she kissed his lips.

"Our son will be fine with Margaret. And I won't be sick , love. Now just sleep. I will be here , next to you.. Forever.."

She was full of tears and she could see Edward's eyes were closing slowly.

Edward nodded weakly and closed his eyes as he felt comforted by her presence. Her hand in his was like a lasting embrace the dulled how poorly he felt.

In a moment his eyes were closed and he in a deep sleep.

After he slept , Alfonsina sat down the sofa which was in front of the window. She cried , prayed and waited him to wake up.

The sun was beginning to rise as a new day was being born. Edward had tossed himself and turned his body restlessly though the whole night-his shirt clung to his moist flesh and his hair stuck to his forehead. He awoke in the morning and saw Alfonsina was still in the room,"Wife…"

She waited all night for him. Then she heard Edward's voice when the sun started to rise. She stood up and run to the bed. She kissed his forehead and asked with tired and tearful eyes.

"How are you , love..?"

Edward sighed as his eyes fell shut again,"I fear I feel no better-I pray you get some rest. This is probably just a cold from riding...or the journey home."

"No , I will wait here until i see you well with my own eyes."

Then she kissed him again. He had fever.

"Do you need anything? What can i get for you husband?"

"No, my love-knowing you are here and our son safe is all that I need,"Edward barked out a cough and threw his head back on the pillow.

She smiled.

"I am so worried about you... I don't understand what hapened so quickly.."

A tear fell down from her eyes.

"I left a note to the infirmary. I hope someone will come soon , love.."

His hand touched her cheek softly and with his thumb wiped away her tear,"Do not weep for me, my own love..."

Edwards eyes closed for a moment and then rushed open as he felt a deep pain burning in his belly-he groaned and rubbed his forehead,"I do not like you seeing me thus..."
